Is Plowman a lock for the top ten?

There seems to be more concern about Menzel and Stringer due to injury, but not a lot for Plowman who had a serious injury like the other two.

Will Plowman be the biggest slider on draft day?

Plowman's elbow ease
After a brilliant start to the season, in which the 17-year-old firmed as one of the stars of this year's crop, Plowman landed awkwardly on his arms after flying for a mark in the Calder Cannons' loss to Geelong in May.

He had surgery on a dislocated elbow and damaged ligaments, and missed all of Vic Metro's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. However, he will line up for the Cannons against the Western Jets on Saturday at Highgate Recreation Reserve.

His rehabilitation from the injury has been a long one, but even through this year's championships Plowman was at nearly every one of Metro's training sessions keeping up his conditioning as his arm recovered.

I haven't given a lot of thought to Plowman for Carlton, but if he can hold down a KPD spot and be more than a third tall long term, he would allow Henderson to play forward. That would arguably be the best case scenario if you consider Waite's age and fragile body. Hope he's big enough at 191 cms. We've invested in a few talls, but you can't have too many as Adelaide have shown.

I'm really hoping we don't take him. He seems to be rated highly on the basis that he's a key position player, but in this day and age, he's too short to play that role. I know he's a good rebounder as well, but not good enough to warrant a round 1 pick. Adding to that, he missed a lot of last season with an elbow injury.

I still think we'll take Stringer and one of O'Rourke or Macrae.

I think Plowman is better than any of those three and I'm a big Macrae fan.

Strongly disagree. Pre-injury, it's arguable, but factoring in how I think they'll step up at AFL level, I believe the Bulldogs are much better off selecting any of those three, Mayes, Wines and/or Grundy, providing they're available..

If Plowman is to slide, how far down can he go realisticly? Could he get down as far as the Saints at 25? (23 if the AFL do the right thing in time)

Won't hold down a KPD spot, he's not tall enough. If you play him in defense, he'll be a third tall; probably not a good fit for Carlton.

But - although it's been rare for him, he actually plays his best footy in the midfield in my opinion, and in the opinion of a few that have worked with him at the Cannons.

No chance to get to 25. Mid teens at the absolute latest, and even that probably wont happen.

"It was a pretty frustrating year because the championships are something you build up to and work towards, so when I found out I couldn't play I had to take a back seat a little. But I was reassured in knowing that towards the end of the year I'd be able to come back. It held me in good stead getting a few games in later in the year."

"I like the way he competes, I like the way he positions himself as a defender, and I especially like the way he wins the footy in the back half and is able to find space and attack. Once we've got control of the ball he's one of the first ones out, running into space." - Calder Cannons coach Martin Allison.

Wonder if the Giants moved Hombsch on because they think Plowman could get through to their fourth or fifth pick. That sounds like them after they used the mini-draft to get more early picks. Bastards.
