The saints sit 5 wins, 5 losses and about 100%

This is average. I don't mean poor or bad - just middle of the road.

We just came from a position below that point - so where we are now is good from where we have come from, but it is not where most of us expected to be (except nexus H).

Are we average?

I think we will prove that we're not.

The Joe Blow St Kilda fan has been knocked around a bit lately. Our confidence in our team is not what it should be. I didn't know which St Kilda was going to turn up to the Melbourne match.

How confident are we that we'll beat the Bulldogs next week.

If we can't believe that we'll win it, then how can we expect our players to believe?

Isn't most of footy played above the shoulders?

We need to not just believe, we must expect to win these matches.

The Saints will beat the Bulldogs and the whole top 8 will be thrown into turmoil.

After the Bulldogs the Saints play Sydney, Fremantle, Kangaroos and Carlton before we take on Hawthorn.

If we can remain undefeated in that time  - the Hawks match will be the biggest blockbuster of the season.

Let's be honest - Melbourne was awful. This was the Melbourne of the first three weeks of the season again and we should have smashed them by more than 100 points.

Edit - apologies if this sounded too cocky (we have no reason to be cocky...). Melbourne were really good last week and could not keep it up this week (and were unlucky again - sorry to hear that Robertson's season is over, I hope he'll be back, he can be as spectacular and great to watch as it gets). I also did not like the St Kilda cheer squad starting to sing the club song about 5 minutes before the end - I was almost happy for Yze to score in order for them to stop it.

But on the other hand, a win is a win and will give us some of that much needed confidence.

The Bulldogs are on fire at the moment, but will have to keep the motivation up after thrashing Hawthorn this week (if it weren't for the Hawks accuracy, the Bulldogs would have won by min. ten goals).

But I can still remember that we have an excellent record against them and that we absolutely dominated them in the first quarter earlier this year.

The game is winnable if we can keep the pressure, courage and commitment up the entire game.

It wasn't a case of you guys dominating us in the first quarter earlier in the year, it was a case of our tatics were completely wrong by flooding back and giving you easily possies in the middle. All you did was bomb it long to your tall forwards who marked or the smaller players goaled from the crumbs. After quarter time we pressured you in the middle.

No need to argue - we dominated the score board, that is what I meant to say.

You certainly got the better of us from 1/4 time onwards...

Maybe our performance against Collingwood in round 8 was not all that bad (considering Collingwood's last two matches)

We can beat the Bulldogs. You just do not know if St.kilda will apply the same pressure and confidence like today. Melbourne were very poor today.

Yeah you certainly dominated the scoreboard

You never stood on the outer at Moorabbin, did you?

Seems they iced the clock with a 50m run from Dempster and 65m goal?

I thought the chant was lame-arse, and should not follow a boring bit of play. Save it for when they do something inspirational like Dempster.

Then the chant stopped suddenly like someone had just farted - just because Melbourne got the ball inside 50.

They started icing the clock the crowd booed and then dempster went for a run then the crowd cheered. Make no mistake they were icing the clock till Dempster took it on himself to attack. Goddard bloody signalled it.

I wonder whether Goddard will use "the signal" again very soon - the booing started almost instantly once he held the ball up.

And how ironic to see one of the ex-Sydney boys be the "undisciplined" crowd pleaser - it was also great to see several players run up to him after the goal (it was not his first goal for the Saints).

I think it was BJ, but someone ignored Gardi in the last quarter who had run 80m and presented 20m clear of his opponent at half back.

The look on Gardi's face was priceless - something like "if you do that again I will tear you a new one".

I Blame the event staff coming onto the group 5 mins before the end of the game, if they would just hold them till 1 min before the end the Players wouldn't know how longs left. Goddard signalled immediately after he saw the event staff making their way around the boundary.

The way I read the Melbourne game was pretty positive - yes it was a training drill, but what was it training our boys to do? They were training themselves to play more attacking footy - the Dees were punching bags for sparring practice. At least they didn't take the foot of the gas that much. I think we'll have a better team against the dogs, because they'll have practiced some of their tactics out on a (albeit weak) AFL players, and know more instinctively what they should do. I think they'll win.
