Does he tell our 1st ruckman not to jump at centre bounces and wait for the other ruckman to mistime his leap? Graham was jumping in his first year at ruck contests and doing well then i noticed about mid last season he just stopped jumping and stayed on his feet. Browne was jumping last year and early this year, but yesterday he wasn't. Is this some crazy tactic? Post is 195cm and was matching 206cm Walnock when he had a run in the middle but then again he matched Ryder the other week too. Post is the ideal 2nd ruckman with his huge leap. But you have to wonder what Lade is teaching Browne and Graham. All i want to see is an effort to out jump the other ruckman and time the leap.

Thought about starting my own "Lade" thread myself madness ... I know Graham and Browne arent superstars and Browne is still young , but geez ... what can you say , we are all seeing it .

Certainally trying to teach them his style wich doesnt suit them imo but thats not the real problem the fact is browne and gus r not good enough full stop .i thought griff showed real promise in the ruck and post does hav ability there as well as a undersized ruck.

Agree. So we should have them just try and win the hit outs get some marks and link the play instead of getting them to do something hard which they cant pull off.

I don't know how many times it needs to be pointed out that an early leap is a nullifying tactic against your opposition ruckman. It stops them getting a clear run at the ball and turns it more into a 50-50 contest.
Given our weak ruck division, I'm not surprised they are doing it

Lade is our ruck and clearence coach, we have gone backwards in clearences since 2009 and we have added Cotchin and Martin to our midfield and our rucks have less imput then any other club

I'd rather win the tap out than nullify the other ruckman. Our ruckman need to be attacking and not play negative. Play with confdence. Browne is 203cm and Graham 201cm. Half the time their feet don't even leave the ground. Wonder what Lade is teaching them

Backwards since last year when we ended up in the top 5 for center clearances and clearances at stoppages (with the same spud rucks) the difference i see this year is, Cambo isnt our midfield coach and Lade has taken over as stoppage coach.

Are we missing the influence of Cambos coaching? Me thinks that might have something to do with it. And on Lade, we have 2 ordinary rucks and he hasnt been able to extract anything out of them, and how much input into getting Derickx did he have? He has showed zero so far at Coburg and appears to be a waste of a pick. Lade hasnt impressed from an outsiders perspective and will not be sacked, and thats fair enough, but we need to get our midfield back up and running. With a nucleus of Deledeo, Foley, Cotchin, Martin and Jackson, how on earth are we getting smashed in there. Dont make sense.

And slightly off topic, and i know the majority wont have it, but we should make a play for Carey part time. Their was no better at body on body, one on one player in modern times, and i notice the word is the Cats are keen. People should put personal issues aside and think what he could add. Lots.

Bottom line is you can't polish t.urd. We're paying the price for not recruiting any decent big men over recent years.

I'd be happy to nullify the other ruckman. With Browne in, I don't think I have seen a side ever get slaughtered so badly in the ruck.

I know Browne is still young - but he really hasn't shown anything to suggest he has an AFL future. Maybe the coaching staff is playing the 'We will give him x guaranteed games to see if he has it' - ok, fair enough.

If we want to be competetive in games now, Graham is far, far better. Better in the ruck (marginally) and better around the ground (significantly).

The big worry is Vickery - he was recruited as a ruckman (we Kept being told how he beat Natanui at the U18 Champs).
Now the fact that Vickery has kicked a few goals this year is fine, but the guy is supposed to be a ruckman. So ruck him! Otherwise we are just doing the Ottens thing again - 'Oh he's such a good kick he's wasted in the ruck.' And then he goes to Geelong and becomes almost the best ruckman in the game.

Arguably the greatest player of all time, apparantly worked a lot with Travis Cloke when he did some work with the pies, and we all know he's not a bad contested mark.

Good player doesn't necessarily mean good coach, but it's far from laughable. Not a bad suggestion even for a part time role.

x 2. Richmond have the worst stoppage set ups in the AFL. When our guys do win a tap it's always directed away from our goals and we have no sweeper round the contest or off the back of the square. That is schoolboy mistakes. I do hope we get a mentor for Hardwick, because the first thing they will do is **** off arse clowns like Lade.
