The only reason this isn't a news story is that half the journos are away (school hols + short gap between GF and trade week) and the haf who are left have had to cover Chris Judd and his Marvellous Tour of Melbourne; the Mainwaring tragedy (and the sinister Cousins and WC eagles links) and the St Kilda board resignation. Not to mention the non-stop celebrations of the Cats. Add in the Storm, the Rugby World Cup, and Ponting's achilles, and frankly I'm surprised there is room for anything else.

All that said, I think they'll announce it as soon as they know. This is getting embarrassing.

Well it's hard to know how it would be a positive one. We all know they've been talking to Nixon for weeks. We all know Laidley wanted three years and more money for the football department. We all know that there isn't another job out there for him.

If my kids can work out how to share the Wizz Fizz and Wonka showbags (believe me, there's a negotation the UN wouldn't want to take on) then surely the club and Ricky can work this out???
