jade rawlings to carlton
lance whitnall to geelong
and some geelong midfielders to hawthorn

thoughts?
As long as one of the midfielders is David Clarke, (and perhaps Bartel) then I guess that would be ok.

I'm not a huge wrap for Whitnall though.

I am much more on the Whitnall Bandwagon. He is only 23/24 (ie 2 full seasons younger than Jade = extra 35 games for GFC) provides a physical presence, is a proven goal kicker, has more experience playing as a foward as well as being able to handle the oppositions best backman. Also plays more like a typical CHF. The jury is still out with me on a few of those points with Jade.

I'd love to do a trade like that stevebiscuit. As for what I'd give up. As long as it doesn't involve our first pick or Bartel I don't care. 2nd pick to Hawthorn + Spriggs + Wojcinski. Mooney if they want another tall. Basically what every they wanted. Whoever they get needs to be cheap b/c of their cap constraints.

Yeah Whitnall for sure, is younger, better, stronger and is kicked 70 goals when he was 19. If geelong got whitnall we would be top 4 if he stayed fit.

But won't happen.

I would give up anyone up for him as he is exactly what we need.

Possible deal

22nd pick and bartel for Whitnall would be a good deal.

We can't trade 1st or 2nd round picks with Carlton. A deal involving Lance would probably involve three clubs. I know the Blues are keen on Rawlings too.

My information is that he is not happy with Pagan and wants out. Getting Whitnall maybe more possible than you think. :)

I hope so, getting Whitnall would be the highlight of an off season, even at a price.

I would be really disappointed if the club didn't have a crack at Lance Whitnall. IMO he is clearly up for grabs at the right price. Getting him would not come cheap but he is the type of player required at Geelong. The Blues have stated they need young midfielders with speed to rotate in the middle.

I think Spriggs + Wojcinski + the 3rd round pick we get for Street would get the Blues seriously thinking.

Big Cat 1 that is a good trade deal. Perfect, blues do need some pace and Wojcinski would be the man for them. However i would not trade spriggs.

Street, Wojcinski, clark for Whitnall and Plunkett.

Don't know why but i think Plunkett has worth as a tagger.

It would be a case of like father, like son if David Clarke went to Carlton, as his old man finished his career at Princes Park back in the early 80's.

I wouldn't be in such a hurry to trade away all our quick midfielders.... we're not exactly blessed for speed either in our side.

The blues wouldn't go for that. It has to be one of Spriggs or Bartel + a good player like Wojcinski. I'd rather keep Bartel. To get quality you need to sacrifice good players and competition for Whitnall will be fierce. Throw in the 3rd rounder we get for Street and I think the deal could get done.

You have got to be joking. What makes you think that chucking your duds like Clarke will help you take an All-Australian CHF?

Bartel + Spriggs is just for starters.

I'll save you the trouble. Plunkett is useless. He's about 3 yards slower than Bartel and has less penetration with his kicking, he's got dodgy knees and he's just too small without much muscle. But if you want to use him as a tagger that's fine, just hope he doesn't have to tag McLeod, Akermanis, Buckley, Bell, Kerr or Camporeale. He get no possessions.

I agree and that's why the trade i suggested was

Spriggs + Wojcinski + 3rd rd pick.

You get two young 10 year midfielders with speed to burn plus an extra pick as soon as you become eligable in this years draft.
