Looking for some respectable pubs/bars for an ale or 2 while on a golf trip to Launceston.

Not looking for a place filled with 21 year old pink t-shirt/white trainer wearing ********ers, but somewhere with a decent crowd (and a few tarts).

Cheers

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That was solid gold my friend, i cannot stand guys and pink shirts.

Try the pub down in Ravenswood, my father use to go there alot, no metrosexual ****ters there.

If you find any let me know.

The vast majority of pubs are sleezy, although patrons on the whole are friendly enough.

The only places i go when in launceston these days are the Country Club Resort or the Metz . But i guess that's not exactly what your looking for.

Yeah you could try Metz and another VERY popular nightspot in Launceston is the Saloon Bar in the City centre, it has accomodation above it called Hotel Tasmania.
I used to go there a fair bit when I was playing tournaments up there, and a mate of mine from down here is the DJ up there and has been for a fair while now.
Though if you are intending on staying in the motel rooms above the nightclub - forget it - you have no chance of sleeping a wink, the floors vibrate and wobble with the music...LOL
I had to get absolutely paraletic drunk a couple years ago to sleep in the place.

Do they still have a place there called Nightmoves (nightmares)? Very unoriginal name for a very divey place.

The Royal Oak opposite the park used to be good for a few ales.

Great Northern was quite upmarket IIRC (been 10 years since I was there!).

edit - I loved the way the locals called Launceston the "City"!!!

Having been to Lonny quite a few times, I can tell you that the food would have to be the best in Australia. Its fresher than it is in the mainland restaurants and pubs.

I know of a great little watering hole, but I doubt you'll get in

The Riders clubhouse
