Yep, I love reliving those Eagles of the early 90's.
Mainy kicked better than he did in 13 years for us!
But isn't he competitive still? Great to see. And how about Whoosha cleaning up Brereton? Also great to see. Don't know about that thug Harvey though
, he's just lucky there's no trial by video....
Great idea, for an excellent cause. But every game makes me more and more pleased Channel 9 and Eddie don't have the footy rights.... Their coverage and 'commentary' are pathetic.
It was a draw, with the All Stars kicking themselves out of it.
Given Billy was either goaless or kicked 1, I'd say it's very possible.....
Sandie- but Harvey punched Mainy in the guts! It wouldn't have mattered except he (Mainy) was taking it so seriously.... The others were just having fun, and the 'stoushes' were just part of that.
Besides, Whosha's just so lovable.....
Besides, don't tell me Dermie didn't deserve it!
Harvey just should've hit someone else, that's all.
Go Eagles
It was a draw & if Billy didn't drink any VB before the game, I bet he made up for it after, along with the great Vanders & quite a few others who don't mind a coldy or 50.
Channel 9 pulled a rabbit out of the hat last night!
Broadcasting from the Moorrabool Street Wing made the ground look full. It was good to see that the Brownlow, Hickey, The Past Players Stand and the Social Club were all pretty well full. The outer wing would have been a bit more sparce.
The crowd was clearly the most for the legends game over the 5 year history. At least 12,000 were in attendance and the EJ Whitten foundation would have made a fortune, as it was $13.50 a head.
A draw was a fitting result, even though, I would have liked to see it go to extra time.
Hopefully next year, it will be back in Geelong again.
Score: Vics - 6.2.38 All Stars - 5.8.38
RE Sam Newman, he wouldve belted the guy had there not been cops around.
RE Channel 9 on the opposite wing. Maybe they werent allowed to broadcast from the 'members' wing. I enjoyed that camera angle though, cos it showed me what Shell Stadium actually looked like from that side of the ground. Their coverage and commentary: look, they used Eddie and BT cos it was 'simulcast' on Triple M, and they are both contracted to Triple M of course. Trev is a comedian, not a special comments man. At one stage, they actually crossed to an ad in the middle of play!

On the topic of the Past Players stand at KP - is there an odder construction in the AFL ? It's tiny, ricketty, breezy - are the Cats actually trying to get rid of their past players thru' pneumonia ?
Back in the Jurassic Age, when the Glastonbury Orphanage Band used to play in the break before the Seniors , that stand was there ... and it seems unchanged in appearance.
Bernie, you're right, the Past Players is an absolute shocker. I wish the club would pull it down and extend the Brownlow Stand or the Hickey Stand through the gap over the disabled area.
It is the only Grand Stand that has always been there. The Brownlow, (whilst always there) originally was similar to it, but a little smaller, and originally there wasn't a social club. The Hickey Stand is a product of the early 70s (Can't you tell) and the social club was built in the late 80s. The current Brownlow and Ford Stands are basically new (hence the debt)
Come to think of it, I wish they would pull down the Hickey Stand, or at least get rid of the poles that hang down from the roof and replace with a 2 teer stand similar to that in Perth. Of course this takes money, something we are slightly low on at the moment.
On TV, the stands actually looked bigger than what they are.
