We tend to get a few issues here that some people are confused about and keep saying over and over, as if no one else understands. Here is a thread to point them out so everyone understands and can stop saying it all the time!

#1: C. Johns.

Typical comments: Johns hasn't shown he could cut it as a key forward. We have Gumbleton and Neagle on our list and there is no place for him anymore. He should have been delisted! He should have played last game if he had a future here.

We all knows this! But the facts are:
He had a contract for this year. Knights has decided to turn him into a key back and see if he can cut it. He has a whole year to see what he can do in this role and there is no point seeing how far he has come in doing that untill much further into the year. He did not play last night because he was injured.

Please feel free to point out other things you think people need to understand (not opinions, facts) because they get mentioned far too often.

Will never be an Essendon champion. Not on the field anyways. The work he had done and what he's achieved to just play football makes him a champion of sorts anyway.

Have spoken to him at club events quite a few times and he's a very pleasant guy with his feet firmly on the ground.

Johns will, at best, be a good Essendon VFL player and backup / depth player for the seniors. For that he's well and truly worthwhile.

Spot on, however the clock is ticking.....18 rounds left to show something.

They said the only reason he didn't play on the weekend was because they wanted to give him the extra two days rest for his corky so he could get a game under his belt on the weekend. If he was fully fit he would have been picked, can't remember who said it but it was pre game on sen.

Dave Calthorpe ;)

And was best on ground in the magoos

not from what i saw. jason johnson was clearly the bombers best player followed by skipworth and maybe hartigan. johns deserved to be in the best players but i don't think he was best personally. if he'd played the full game up forward then he probably would have been. he killed them in the last quarter after spending the first 3 out of position in defence. jj had close to 40 posis!

i do agree that when lloyd is out johns should play full forward. this is his natural position and all he is good for IMO

Certain people who attempt to pick the team and the IN's and OUT's based on what happened with Bendigo in the VFL, without actually watching the Bendigo game or having any degree of knowledge of what actually happened at the game.

Well lets make another thing clear, David Myers shouldn't be considered as a future club captain before he has played a H&A game for the club. Dosen't matter what he has done in training or praccy matches he shoudn't be considered until we know what he can do at AFL level.

Agree 100% we are not the West Indies cricket team, this is Essendon Football Club for christ sake. We have a history of great captains I dont think I want to hand it over to David Myers before he has had a hard ball get in the one's - CMON!!!!!!

Very true, how can anybody consider Myers as a future captain without playing a game yet. Surely has to prove something first. Hope he comes out and dominates the game but he has to show something

Should be given a go. If he is good enough then he will show it, but stuck in Bendigo he is going no where fast.
