Now I know why we're so hated on the main boards when it comes to drafting (amongst other things), but seriously can we cut out the 'Collingwood are the big winners' etc etc, it's downright embarrassing.

We were apparently the big winners of the last draft too (still being echoed), 3 top 20 picks we had, only one had a real impact though and he played less than 10 games lol.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be excited, but please cut the crap out, at least until we see one of them play a game.

To be perfectly honest I felt like Hine butchered our picks.
I watched 30 seconds of a few clips of the draftees so I feel I'm in a good position to judge, but I just don't see why they were picked ahead of the others.

Only time can tell if we're winners or not.

None of our 4 picks are a dead set guarantee to become elite players, but they should all end up GOOD players if not more.

Scharenberg - AFL ready and just needs to get over his foot issues and if he does will MOST LIKELY become a very very very VERY GOOD player.
Freeman - Needs to work on his game a bit but if given a few years he just MIGHT turn into something.
Marsh - Very inconsistent and has poor kicking skills but if he can fix that then he will be a real FIND.
Langdon - Needs a few years to develop his game but could become anything in a VARIETY OF POSITIONS.

The only one I'm run-around-the-loungeroom excited about at this point is Scharenberg.

Freeman - happy to pick up a line breaker with genuinely elite pace but there are clearly areas to be worked on. I'm not thrilled but not disappointed with the choice. Seems a good kid, which is always a good thing.

The others are speculative picks at the lower end so even Hine would have to say he doesn't know how they will turn out.

Anyone saying we are huge winners is getting carried away in the moment, but that's just a part of the fun.

Yeah, and he'd probably only go at number 2 if the draft was repeated as well. What a spud Nearly as bad as the couple of other 18 year olds who didn't dominate, one of them after missing half the season with glandular fever.
It's in people's nature to speculate on who "won" and "lost" the draft, and it's not just Collingwood supporters who think we did well either.
