We all want a young key forward in the draft and provided we keep our two first rounders we should use one on a kpf.
Don't forget though guys, they aren't top 10 picks, so any kpp at that range could be speculative any way.
We need to bring in the best free or restricted free agent available. This rules out Tippet as we would have to trade for him (unless Sydney give him away to free up cap space).

Plus tall players rarely come in an impact straight away anyway. So yes we need a Casboult type plus 1 or 2 in the draft

Of course, if Griff is capable to keep playing and Hammer comes back then maybe Casboult is surplus. But then, given the dodgy state of most of our talls he is good insurance.

Casboult is the player we wantes Griffiths to be minus the kicking. Great mark, hits packs hard, goes through the ruck.

He is EXACTLY what we need and, if we can get him for 500k which is roughly 420k before the pay increase, we are winning.

We're gonna have to grab one of these CHFs on offer in the off season no doubt.
I didn't really want any of them, Casboult takes some great clunks but is a dodgy kick, however, has improved this year.
Reid is probably the best player of the lot, but would cost more and is made of crate paper.
Don't hate Tippett as a player, think he's a better ruck than he is a forward, but also brittle, old and is supposedly still on a hefty pay packet.

Casboult is the pick for me.

Yeah it's a big yes from me too. i have been talking about getting him across for a while now.

as others have mentioned, takes the big grabs, crashes packs, and can play as a 2nd ruck which Sam Ried can't do.

his goal kicking has imporved a lot, we add a lot to us and our structure.

$500k for a guy who is going to kick between 30 and 40 goals this year, making it his best year by far.

Has Vickery like numbers and most of us were happy to see him go.
Casboult actually gives a stuff.

Happens every year.A kid falls for some reason. We might get lucky.

We should be trying to get Patton away from gws..
Fwiw I think $500k is too much, and I'm not convinced he'd leave th blues anyway. What's going on with our football department? Let vickery walk, then chase an even worse option.. a bit like bringing in hampson then nank, neither is suited to playing as a forward, restricting th versatility of our list.
Seems like they're making it up on the fly, reacting to problems without much future planning

Levi is no where near worse than Ty. Ty refused to get body contact in the ruck, and hardly took many marks jumping at the ball. Yes he is a better shot for goal, but that doesn't mean much if he doesn't get it.

This screams of Blair Hartley: I understand the logic but the moneyball player choice falls flat

Need a tap ruckman - Bring in Hampson
Need a Marking CHF - Bring in Casboult

I know salary caps exist and building a list is highly competitive, but surely there are better options out there?!

Thats said he is a massive upgrade on Elton, and Griff is one concussion away from retirement so I don't mind him as a FA so long as wee use a first rounder to draft a tall forward
There isn't many 'good' choices in the first round for tall fwds, other than very high picks. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't take any, and if they do it might be key defenders.

Yes, fingers crossed.
A lot on here are saying don't get a free agent let's just go to the draft.
My point is there is no guarantee the best tall available at our first pick is worth anywhere near that. I don't want us selecting a player at 12-16 that should really go 25-30 range and miss out on quality. (Our draft history is bad enough already!)

Unless we get a slider, I can see us taking a late speculative tall and a late pick tall will be a work in progress and may not play for a year or two if they get to the level at all.

Casboult is nothing like Vickery in the way he can impact a game. Vickery was always looking for a cheap kick, never put his body on the line and refused to hit the pack. Casboult likes to hurt the opposition and impact the contest. Perfect addition for the club whilst we develope future talls, that we should acquire from the draft.

Better than Reid and Tippet for our needs.
