should liam plunkett be in the side all the time... he is an awesome bowler and can also bat a bit ( has a ODI 50 )

i think he should be.. along with lewis and anderson

Can play, and still a very young one, will be a great player for England, and should be in the First XI for One dayers but not sure if he should be in the same side as Ando as they are very similar, though both are 2 of the best 5 bowlers in England, can bat as well, very handy player.

what about hoggard and young cook.

why aren't they in the one day squad??

hoggy is a much better bowler than some of those one day pie throwers and cook was england's form batsman during the tests, and then they send him home and keep strauss who has struggled to score a run all summer...........go figure.

not 100% sure but didnt hoggard retire from odi

ne way cook should be there anyway

Based on his fielding against NZ.......no.

Why am I answering this - it is about an Englishmen!

Yes.

He's better than some other young bowlers around the world and Fletcher must love him because he can make a few runs in the lower order. I personally think he will get his opportunities at the World Cup.

I like Liam Plunkett and have done for a couple of years now.

I think he is a better bowler than Jon Lewis and can also bat a bit so, I think he is in our best ODI XI but not our best test XI.

Your opinion doesn't count when it comes to Plunkett.

He has bowled remarkably well considering he's been on the tour from the beginning but barely played a game.

Definitely looked more likely than Lewis... his selection has been kind of puzzling.

I think so yes. Hoggard doesn't play one dayers because the selectors believe that he is weak in 2 of the 3 disciplines. With the retirement of Harmison you would think that Plunkett has to be up there. Looks a more lethal option than Lewis and I think he's younger.

Absolutely, he is a good talent for them. While he would be no more than a Pura Cup style bowler here, he'd certainly be up there for England. I remember seeing him for the first time here in Adelaide playing grade cricket a few years ago and he opened the bowling and regularly got bags of 5 wickets per innings. Bowled quick and got heaps of late swing which always ripped thru top order with new ball. Def one worth persisting with, he has come on which is good to see.

He is a good bowler, and yes he is a best XI player, however with the likes of Hoggard, Harmison and Anderson along with Flintoff in the Test arena, then Anderson, Flintoff, Panesar along with Dal, Colly and KP they can prob fit him in as a third front line seamer I guess. Lewis however has shown enough as well, and can vary pace more, while Anderson and Flintoff can open as well as Lewis.

Undecided

Yeah, Bring "LEWIS BACK ON":) :) :)

Liam Plunkett wide count : 12

From Cricinfo

0.1 Plunkett to Vincent, 1 wide, wide of off stump, and that's an extravagent amount of swing taking it wider still
0.1 Plunkett to Vincent, 1 wide, too much movement again, but there's plenty doing out there
0.1 Plunkett to Vincent, no run, a play-and-a-miss - wide again, but this time not called as such
0.2 Plunkett to Vincent, 1 wide, this one is on the other hand. A few problems for Plunkett here
0.2 Plunkett to Vincent, 5 wides, yikes. That's horrific. Speared down the leg side, wide and wider. Nixon can't get close to it!
0.6 Plunkett to Fleming, 1 wide, err ... another wide. Down the leg-side this time

2.4 Plunkett to Vincent, 1 wide, rubbish. Plunkett loses his action at the last minute - his wrist position was spearing that one down leg from the moment it left the hand
2.5 Plunkett to Fleming, 1 wide, good grief. Scott Boswell eat your heart out. That started wide of off stump and was swinging wider

6.4 Plunkett to Fleming, 1 wide, .... and another one. Down the leg-side this time. It's a bit village

Good Start Liam :D

The fact is he was bowling quite a load of tripe even for the past two games, but for some reason he found some swing and got some wickets with batsmen going hard at him

Today he's back to his normal standards. He has an ordinary action and he needs a lot of remedial work on it.
