I think it was fundraising social event from what some reports stated

Again calm down man ...

Get that but it's hardly a death by hanging offence.

I have aboriginal friends and clients...they are much more free spirited than us white honkys..its partly why many struggle with the rules and schedules of Afl. Yeah he knew it was wrong but I suspect he figured what the fu...k ....dont tell me you haven't broken rules in your workplace or life....

You might have a point there.
I remember waiting at set of lights on Wellington street heading west just before RPH.
There was this oval there and a bit of commotion caught my eye, there was this aboriginal lady with a huge stick almost a log, hitting this aboriginal guy over the head with extreme force.
I thought oh mate you must have done something wrong to be causing that sort of grief and he was just taking it bang bang bang over and over. he was stumbling
quite a bit and I did not know if he was intoxicated or the blows to his head were taking effect.
Then out of the blue, he swung around and lamped the lady with a massive right hook that lifted her off the ground, and she flew backwards and landed on her back, knocked out with no movements.
He then turned round and stumbled off under the trees into the shade no ****s given.
Now that is what you call equal rights.

Not that i condone anything of the above at all.

Restorative justice we call that ...yup I kinda see that daily when u travel out to aboriginal communities...

Part of me just stares in shock ...part of me goes they’ve been here 60,000 years Nd how do you think they settled their differences in the past.

Ryan and frankly any aboriginal player does well to make it on a list .....they often have horrendous backgrounds we know little about.....

Yup sure they have to conform to the sane rules we all do but their brains work differently to ours ...you have to understand walk about time ...men’s business and women’s business

I’ve dont shit load of cultural studies and get most of it ...some of it we won’t understand and guess what .,.thats ok ....

People underestimate this. I am an immigrant but from Europe and a small backward town and the impact of that is incredible, let alone for aboriginals and their backgrounds.

It’s not just different way of life but the old life always pulls you and sucks you back in with people still there constantly pulling you back. Some because that life is fun and for some, they do it because they want you to fail so that their own life isn’t seen as a failure.

Do not underestimate these forces that you are constantly fighting and they never stop. When you are young you haven’t learnt how to deal with it but Ryan moving to Perth at such a young age is an achievement that should not be underestimated.

Many of them are shy and introverted....traumatized from tough upbringings

Not saying they need special treatment....but just culturally appropriate assistance is imperative.

Do mature age draftees get the same AFL induction?

Seems to me Ryan is struggling a bit with the increased expectations and scrutiny AFL players receive. The Eagles player welfare manager is in the hot seat on this one I think.

The probability is it'll settle with a bit of work, and long term he'll be just another player with some indiscretions in his youth.

I hope so, he's an extraordinary talent and would be a real loss if he cant manage the self discipline.

Would be a shame to see him demonised. Lots ofyouth would be looking up to this guy, including his own kids. Needs another chance. Needs to realise this isnt acceptable. Needs to be a role model. No ****ing excuses

And if you give boffins the chance to have their moment in the sun or struggling newspapers the chance of a misleading headline that might sell a few more papers in the short term they will take it.
There was no domestic violence incident.Liam Ryan was with his male cousin at the time .Standard typical reaction of country police who like the attention and the authority trip in my opinion.
