Tough to pick the INS and OUTS this week. A couple of our regular players missed against the Lions and Im not sure if they'll be rushed back in for one game before the bye in Stanton, Hurley, & Slats. Add to this and arguably our two best players (if you go on last years Crichton medal) in Hocking & Watson may miss. Because its dreamtime at the G you have to factor in that there may be some sentiment for indiginous players - I reckon Davey will come in - and does Hird give M.Willaims one last role of the dice...??
Ive gone for a starting 18 that still looks pretty good (plenty of indiginous players on the left side!) and a bench of 9;-

Hibberd Fletch Hardingham
NLM Hooker Myers
Jetta Lonergan Heppell
Davey Hille Zaka
Ryder Crameri Monfries

T.Bell McVeigh Howlett

Bench from: Melksham Reimers Stanton Hurley
Colyer H.Slat Watson Hocking M.Williams

Really looking forward to this game and an opportunity to cement ourselves in the top 4 before the break. Comon Dons!!!

Out: Hocking, Colyer
In: Stanton, *(Hurley), Prismall

*(if fit)

Our inside 50 needs some better delivery. Stanton and Prismall are made of this.

Hocking gone for all money.
I'd probably prefer to see Browne (hard to believe he'd only be our 2nd debutante) than Prismall, if we're missing Jobe and bringing Stanton back anyway.

Low on grunt now. Big pressure on Myers, NLM & Lonergan. Need to staple Howlett onto Cotchin. Unsure who gets Martin, probably Slatts? Very creative off half-forward/wing.

I reckon you propose to bring in Prismall just about every week, no matter the varying factors.

In: Slattery, Stanton
Out: Hocking, Colyer

Obviously a lot depends on how Hurley and Watson pull up.

Prismall been in best 2 for Bendigo for 3 weeks. At least he will come into the side with confidence that he is playing well.

I think Stanton and Prismall in, hocking and if Watson misses.

Hopefully hurls is right to go

Prismall would be close to a call up and Stanton should be back. Not so sure on Hurley's calf, I think I read somewhere it could be a 2 week injury.

With Watson and Hocking potentially out, Stanton is the obvious in, we should think about bringing in Davey as a forward option, freeing up Reimers/Zaha/Jetta for larger parts in the midfield rotation. Maybe even Slattery to give Heppell a bit of midfield taste against Richmond's youngish mids.

McVeigh would be perfect for Martin i'd think.

Prob Howlett to Cotchin, and Monfries to keep a close eye on Deledio.

I'm really torn but i'd probably give Fletcher first crack at Reiwoltd over Hooker....

Ins - Stanton, Prismall*
Outs - Hocking, Watson *essentially if there's any doubt at all about Watson i'd rest him...win or lose this game we still have 14 more games to get through - if Watson's hammy is deemed to be literally 100%, then Prismall stays in the 2's.

I'm thinking of putting Ryder into Defense this week and matching up on Vickery. He has been putting through a few goals each week (Bit like what Hille is doing). And really i think he could have a game breaker any week now. Perhaps this would give Ryder some much needed confidence as well?

Our boys need to watch a short clip of the Eagle's win over the Dockers. Kerr and Embley out but the structures still stood up. Whoever comes in needs to play their role in the team and if that is the case, we should be able to suffocate the Tigers who score heavily, but also allow the opposing team to score heavily as well.

Jack Riewoldt can beat our backs one on one, but as a defensive team, I believe we can hold him. I think that Hooker has been in tremendous form and can cover Vickery easily. What I have noticed about Vickery is that he is often out by himself which I think indicates teams are covering Riewoldt and allowing Vickery some space.

I feel big Hille has a massive game in him and saw some very promising signs on Saturday night. I'd start him and let him run amok across the ground.

Depends who is fit. Hurley is not likely to make it for reports. Stanton is a doubt. Watson is 50/50. Slattery I have no idea. Hocking will miss at least one you would expect.

I would like to see Myers play midfield, in normal circumstances I would say Lonergan would go out, he has been hit or miss and I think Myers would deserve a shot at that spot. If Watson is out then Lonergan will hold his spot for sure though you would think.

Ideally:

In - Stanton, Slattery, Hurley
Out - Lonergan, Colyer, Hibberd

Lonergan has had a ripper year, and I was one of his critics, Hibberd had a fantastic game on Saturday and would be stiff to go out.

Ryder has been ineffective and I would swap him out for Hurley before any of the two above.

It is a bit of a selection dilemma, but With Hocking gone, and Maybe Watto too, Lonergan will be crucial for his clearance work.

I am going to have to start putting people on ignore if this Ryder shit keeps up. It is worse than the Stanton rubbish.

Ryder had 13 touches again. This is what he gets pretty much every week. He missed kicking a goal by 3seconds. He was a forward target all day and brought the ball to ground a couple of times. He hardly wasted a touch and is very important to our structure.

He is not BOG or anything close, but he is doing his job ok. He is 23.

Ryder and Hurley is not an either/or statement. They both play forward and back and will always be in the side when fit. The only time any of those big guys are going to be in danger if getting dropped is if they are seriously poor for a number of weeks, or if Gumby gets fit and is banging down the door. Which is nowhere near. Even then Ryder would probably be played back before he'd get dropped.

Hibberd was stiff to go out last time, but he went out all the same. He doesn't play tight on small defenders like Slattery and McVeigh do. He plays the NLM/Myers defensive role. He is first in line of the defenders to go out every week. Tough for him because he hasn't been bad, but that's the way it is.

Lonergan has been very good for two games, ok for a few more and pretty darn average for three. He is not a monty for a spot and has been saved from being the sub a few times this year. If Hocking got off, Watson was fit and Stants ok I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him sub at best.

Im not saying throw Ryder in the do not play ever again bin.

He has struggled, and could benefit from a couple of games at a lower level to get his confidence back up. At his best he is a gun. He just seems a bit off at the moment. I dont mind if they persist with it.

Im only saying Ryder out for Hurley, as I think that we are overloaded on talls unless Hurley plays in the Backline.

Slatts could come in and do a tagging role that Hocking would have done.

Spot on. We really need him back this week. Hibberd can cover his role in defence leaving Slatts to tag Martin or Deledio. Maybe even Nahas? McVeigh to Dusty?

The tiges have a lot of smalls in form so his inclusion will be crucial.

In: Stanton, Prismall
Out: Hocking, Watson

EDIT: Slatts unavailable. There goes my masterplan.

Agree with the first paragraph 100% - West Coast lost 2 guns from their midfield at the last moment - But their structures held up - And WC has a similar playing style to EFC.

Am I alone, or is this beginning to look like one of those "season defining" games?
If I was a Richmond supporter I would be pretty confident going in this week to be honest. But we need to take a leaf out of West Coasts book (I cannot believe i just said that) as they did losing two of their best in Kerr and Embley yesterday.
Our "outs" would look something like this if at Tigerland:
WATSON = NEWMAN
HOCKING = MARTIN
WINDERLICH = COTCHIN
DEMPSEY = NAHAS
HURLEY = REIWOLDT
STANTON = FOLEY
WELSH = DELEDIO
and lets not forget Gumbleton and Pears.
So if we can hold off the Tigers this week, it will be our best win of the year so far IMO.
