Agree that it is pretty much spot on. Reading through you can see why we didn't have the greatest of seasons. Very few high marks amongst this report with the majority of the list needing to improve. Betts perhaps got the best report and even he backed right off over the last couple of months. Think we have plenty of talent just need to find a way to harness it consistenly.

Good find jera!

Agreed pumped, we have judd, then the rest and its a lotto between them with who is going to bring their A game.... Fingers crossed we can unearth a couple of jets and the tallent we have steps up next year and has their name alongside C.Judd.

I know one poster has already made a thread outlining his thoughts on the Carlton list, but as this is an article I think it deserves it's own thread.

Not a bad read at all, pretty spot on actually. Looking forward to next season already. :thumbsu:

Simon Wiggins: The ‘Chief’ is a much-loved figure at Visy Park, but questions have to be asked about the decision to keep him on for another season. Through form and fitness he hasn’t featured at AFL level despite Ratten’s willingness to try a number of different options in attack.

The answer to the question is: "A contract".

Otherwise, pretty good write up. Clearly with the Wiggo ref and a couple of others, needs to check out my "Contract and List" thread, as not many clubs will sack a player who is in contract.

That's a surprisingly decent assessment. There really is a lot of upside left in our list. A huge amount actually. Still a few list deficiencies (i.e. the need for one big KP defender), but nothing massive. Special mention to Dennis Armfield. Just love the way the guy cuts through the middle with those blistering flood-busting runs.

  • Only two of our small defenders look AFL-capable (Joseph and Armfield).
  • We have a weakness in tall defender depth (with Austin and Thronton regaining form in the VFL) that requires us to utilize some tall forwards there (Waite and Henderson at times).
  • Our inside midfielder depth is weak without Mclean (Hadley can only play this position and has not been exceptional at it this year).
  • With Houlihan out either Carazzo or Walker is required to be a defensive forward, which depletes our tagging depth considerably as Armfield and Jospeh are tied down to small defender posts.
  • Tall forward depth is questionable with O'halpin out of form, requiring Hampson to play as a part-time forward.

This is from a thread I started at the beginning of last month. It also has a categorization of the entire list. Don't want to bump it but don't want to have to re-type it all either
