Hi everyone,

Late in November the software that ran the Blueseum finally died, the site became too big for what was software that could not scale. Yes, I regret the choice of software 20 years ago!

So the last two months have been a process of installing new software (mediawiki) that can scale, and bit by bit building the Blueseum back from a backup.

Little Help?

Well the help is the address for all Blueseum links have now changed.

This means that lots of wikipedia (and other links) need to be changed.

There are so many I cannot do them all so I'm asking for help if anyone here who is a regular editor of wikipedia if you see a link to the Blueseum please replace it with a link to the updated site.

It's not easy to say switchh from A to B, becuase A (the orignal link) could have taken many forms. It will basically be a case of finding the new link on the updated Blueseum and replacing it on Wikipedia.

This will help a lot with Google re-indexing the site, I had to have it offline for over a month so google is still in the process of re-discovering the site.

Any help at all, even just changing one link will be very much appreciated.

Hi - I've updated wiki for all Carlton players with surnames starting with A-B

note: If anyone else is making updates, player pages on Blueseum now appear with url format https://blueseum.org/mwiki/index.php?title={{name}} however linking is supported to https://blueseum.org/{{name}} so using this second (shorter) format is preferred as it will prevent future potential re-work should things ever change again in the future!

The best solution would be to import everything into Wikidata. This would work well for player pages, but any other pages/refs would need manual updates. We already have AFL Tables and Australian Football links in Wikidata, if you could provide an excel list of every player, their DoB and the new link, I could probably cross reference it to Wikidata items and use quick statements to update every page at once. Then we'd just need to create a template to put on every player pages (& there are tools to do that too).
