Will still win the Melbourne Cup in my opinion.

Had the Caulfield Cup been at Flemington he would have blown them away.

Seems to hate Caulfield and is very much a Flemington horse.

I shouldn't have backed him to win the CC and should have just waited to double up for the MC, but hinesight is a wonderful thing.

If i get $14 on the day i will be very very happy as i reckon he will stay all day and will hit the line full of running.

GET ON

As much as I'd like to think he could take it up to the European horses, Efficient & Master O'Reilly, I just can't see it myself.

Look, I think he is a good chance and I love the horse but at this stage its just a maybe. Hard to be 100% confident on anything this far out. Also considering that Septimus is a gun, Master O is searching for the two mile, Efficient has done nothing wrong this prep and Mad Rush had a cracker of a first run. Hard to pencil Littorio as a definate

Efficient hasn't done anything wrong this prep because he has raced two times over too short a distance so everyone can say "he got home good" or "good melbourne cup trial".

Lets face it, last years cup field was weak and he got lucky. I think he is no chance this year and anyone who takes the $7 on the TAB is an absolute peanut farmer. Septimus is gunna show up every horse in the race and I'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

I'm a Littorio fan but he just hasn't done anything yet. 2 wins in total, one of them a maiden. The other win was impressive, but I can't have a punt on the Melbourne Cup with any confidence with a 2 win horse.

I hope I'm proven wrong.

I can't see Littorio winning the Melbourne Cup. He's too young and inexperienced to run a strong 3200 against the big boys. Just like Master O was last year.

He couldn't even do it over 2400, how will he do it over 3200.

septimus or nom du jeu. I personally think septimus will smash them. Littorio is a donkey

Looks a strong race this far out and he is one of the chances.

I think Efficient is a big chance, last year may have been average but he won well and was only a 4yold he'll be much improved into this year... but he will need to be racing a better field and with more weight. The odds for him look a little skinny though atm.

All The Good is pretty well weighted still based on how strong his victory was for a 1st up run in the country.

Of course he is still in it although I think Efficient and Master O'Rielly are looking better. Anyone who says Septimus has it in the bag has no clue, while his form may look impressive he won most of his races in Europe against below average stayers at set weights, Melbourne Cup is a handicap event allowing all horses a reasonable chance of success. Fact is Septimus is rated below what Yeats and Vinnie Roe were at their peak and they couldn't get the job done, only 2 internationals have won the event, and Caulfield Cup was misleading as it was setup for the internationals by the cracking pace Gillo and Maldivian set up front which is how they like to race, doubt they will get that pace again in Melbourne Cup.

If you watch the CC closely you will note that Littorio matched the winner stride for stride in the concluding 400 meters, in other words the distance between them remained the same from where they were positioned in the run (more or less).

The horses that powered past him where Nom De Jeu and Mad Rush, but they were greatly assisted by the fast pace of the race. Will they get that pace in the MC?

I understand the connections of Littorio remain confident he will run the two miles and they know that Flemington suits him. They are concerned about the above two though.

Yeh true but Vinnie Roe did finish second to arguably the greatest Cup runner of all time. Septimus is a gun but the cup has seen many many wied things happen

The only ones that can win the Melb. Cup going on Caulfield Cup performances are first and second, Mad Rush and maybe Master O'Reilly.
The imports who have yet to race in Australia are an interesting lot this year.
Bauer won't win the Cup.
For mine, regardless of of what tactics the O'Brien stable employ and how sexy Luca's daughter is, Nom De Jeu can and probably will win. That will really piss off the invaders and their lackeys !
