why cant players read message boards

Check out the sport section of todays Herald Sun.
Basically players have been coming to places like this (there's even a screen cap of BigFooty along with others) and reading messages where people are absolutely ripping into them. eg. "(player) is a useless sack of crap, don't know how he's in the AFL when he can't even kick straight". Stuff like that. Club staff think players confidence will take a big hit if they keep reading stuff like that so they've told them they can't visit the boards anymore. It's pretty sad - that people say stuff like that that is. I know it's kind of like "harden up, you're a big tough footy player" but there's a heap of abuse coming from all directions. A lot seems to be directed at the younger rookie players too. It would be tough to block out that much.
