Lloydy really concerns me ,the last few years has seen his influence on a game wane dramatically maybe injuries has caught up with him and the delivery not as good but he is struggling.

He is no longer quicker enough to get away from defender on the lead and not big or strong enough to outmark one on one and has relied on kicking goals through more oppourtunistic ways such as soccering off the ground or through free kicks.

We functioned much better with him out of the goalsquare in the third quarter and when he started back there in last quarter we fell away again .

Lucas is much more potent for us in the forward line and Lloyd needs to play half forward although he isnt great there either but i think the game is going past him

Yeah, two bad games when having some injury niggles, against Geelong and Max Hudghton in form when our midfield gets smashed in both.

Get your hand off it and get some perspective. It's two games.

Of course he is past his best! We all know that. You cant keep dragging him away from FF to get a disposal cos Lloyd is no good to the team playing away from FF.

Pfft he's just come back from injury and he kicks no goals. Big Deal. He's an out and out champion who had a very decent opponent who beat him fair and square.

I think he has a massive impact on every game he plays in. The oppostion worry about him and thy make sure he doesn't get the ball. This frees up other players to kick goals.

I reckon any so called Essendon supporter who has a go at Lloyd should be banned from this board.

Of course he's past his best, but it doesn't mean he still won't be able to kick 70+ goals a season for us in the future.

There's probably alot of players that are past their best, but it doesn't mean that their still not bloody good players.

Im not bagging Matty in any way. I love Matty but it is a fact he is past his best. No doubt he is a champion! He's up there with the best Forwards of all time.

Agree totally!

NOBODY IS WRITING MATTY OFF!!! A few of us are just stating that unfortunately he is past his best footy. He is still 1 F****** good player! But his best footy is behind him.

You won't see Lloydy kick 70+ goals again.

Lol, you idiot.
He was clearly not playing at 100%.
Also the delivery from the midfielders to him was absolutely terrible. Either at his feet or above his head.

You sure??? Is this due to the workload being shared more evenly now or because you think Lloyed is past his prime and not capable???

If we manage to get a decent midfield together he will.

Lloyds goals have mainly come from fast leading.

He has lost a yard (Not basing it on tonights game) and we don't have enough quality deliverers of the ball.

We don't win any where near enough of the ball to give him enough opportunities and by the time we do he will be older and a touch slower again.

He isn't the type of player that can change his game and go and stand in the square and take contested marks.

None of this means that he can't contribute, but he won't be kicking 70+ any more.

Why don't we wait a few more weeks before starting thread like this?

I'm hoping he plays more of a chf/hf role. I think he'll give us better value as he's very good on the move when he gets his fitness back.

Matt couldnt play a CHF/HF role. He doesnt know how to play those positions & it would be silly to teach him now. Matty is a FF. That's his position. That's the position he knows best.

I think you are all a bit quick to shoot the guy who started this thread.

He is clearly not bagging Lloyd. He is just saying that we have seen a steady decline in his influence on games in the last few years.

I have to agree. I have been a huge Lloyd fan over the years, almost a man crush. But last night I went to bed after his second goaless game this year, thinking "I think we won't see that dynamic talented Lloyd at his leading and goalkicking best again".

His pace has clearly waned to where most fullbacks are just picking him off.

He doesn't fly for high marks like he used to.

He isn't tall enough to outmark most packs.

He will still be handy, but his current value as 'superstar' has got to be in doubt. We need to start finding other options along side him now.

I couldnt agree more with that post spot on. Allow me to play devils advocate dont shoot me but if we had a full list how many games like that would Lloyd have to play like that to be kicking dew in Bendigo?

All that Lloyd needs to do is just stay in the 50 mt area nowhere else, when he goes up the ground to get his cheap kicks to improve his stats then he looks like a total dick head, he is a goal kicker and that is all he is, so put a f##king rope on him to keep him close to goals so he can do his job.

PS,
He is a captain backside.

I was upset to see Bombers fans cheering llyod, when he got hold of the ball late in the Geelong game, He was floged by Scarlett, but there was no reason for that kind of thing, and i think it also happend woth Mcfee also, I would be very angry at my fellow supporter if this happened at Geelong

I agree with this,But there is a old football saying, thats goes, When you cross that line you are 100% , Sadly it also make's you 100% more likly to be picked out and picked on for your injurys :(

But i dont know why anybody would stress out about Llyod having 2 bad games this early in the year.

Especially when he said himself after his interrupted pre-season that he won't hit his stride until about Round 6. Couple that with his recent calf complaint and it's understandable that he played below his usual standard.
