WtfI blame Chief for getting me looking into buying an iPhone.
Just a general question tho for those in the know.
If you get an Optus (or Telstra) plan that includes the iPhone 7, when the two years are up, does the phone automatically become unlocked? Or, whenever, can you get them unlocked like thru one of those mobile repairer shops? Or is a feature of iphone 7 that unlocking them can't be done?
Or should i just buy, say, an iPhone SE or 6s outright and use that on my existing "byo" plan?
You'd have to pay to get it unlocked at one of those mobile places. Doesn't cost a lot from memory.I blame Chief for getting me looking into buying an iPhone.

That is simply untrue.because every other phone plan i know of, for android/windows phones, once the plan ends the phone unlocks and/or people can unlock them by paying some dude to do it for you.
this was my understanding. any iphone that's on a plan isn't locked to anyoneIphones are not locked anymore
Maybe because Samsung phones have a tendency to explode?Wtf
Why did you even go iphone over Samsung in the first place?
If you're an idiotMaybe because Samsung phones have a tendency to explode?
Just spoke with someone they said dont bother even getting the 7 because this time next year the 8 will be apparently blowing everything away, will have a whole new internal system, etc that is like a huge step up/away from what exists in the 6 and 7
i would prefer gay marriage than that...your phone is locked to your provider forever
Spoke with vodafone guy, he said all iphones come unlocked nowadays, plan included
