When we had both the firsts and reserve games to watch I would have never gone to the footy by myself however, now I don't mind at all. One game for 2 1/2 hours is no problem.
Generally you meet people there anyway and over the last couple of years have made several good friends
 
From 81 to 94 I rarely went to a game on my own, I had either family or Cheersquad to keep me company.

I spent most of the next 7 years going on my own, I got a bit sick of the whole cheersquad atmosphere. It never really bothered me but I did get lonely at times & it got a bit depressing when we were going badly.

But then I found Big Footy & haven't been lonely since ;).
