I've had a strange life as a Blues fan, going from years and years of success to having it all torn away at the beginning of the last decade. During that time I grew to looking for small blessings, looking for some way of getting joy out of the team I'd loved since a kid.

I found that in the Fev. His freakish natural ability and the way he played with a smile just made footy....

FUN.

And then he left. Been enough said about that but for me it smashed the joy in footy for me. I thought "I respect Judd but I can't love him like I did the Fev. Not the same thing. He is clinical, not passionate. From where will I ever get that joy again?"

Then I went to the Cats game, expecting to get smashed, but it was a nice day and I was happy enough to just look for some piece of joy out of it......

And then I saw that thing that had made me love the game so much for so many years. Funny how things turn out. Plenty of the same freak. The same "how the hell did that happen" moments.....with a SMILE and plenty of FUN. Except, it wasn't the Fevolution doing it...it was Setanta's Little Helpers.

These kids bounce the ball while someone is chasing them FFS. Double hands up for goals. Big flashy smiles. Plenty of brotherly love.

Footy is fun again - at least for this old man. So I say this: thanks for coming kids....you've given me some joy in footy again.
