The MOST important player in our team is Longmuir because if he goes down with injury, we have to rely in the biggest sack of SH*T that our club has ever seen in Rippers lovechild.
yes i and i am waiting to hear ruckmen develop late Blah blah and some useless stats that ripper will no doubt sprout.
enough about him he isnt the sole reason we lose!

here is a little snippet i posted a few weeks ago .... sorry Ripper i was reallly ********ed off at the time.........some of it is true though!

Justin is in career best form. Mind you he was a pick 2 and has been on our senior list a full 5 years longer than 211 and has only recently come good.

That is why you have to be patient with the big blokes , they do take a long time to get going properly.

211 needs a few more weeks at the Sharks IMO to get some full games under his belt and some confidence back.

I will be the first to admit that he has not produced what he is capable off this year but I can still remember that He was a major factor in us getting to our home final as well as igniting the team in numerous other games that we would otherwise have lost.

If you cast your mind back you will remember that Justin had a stint at the Joondie Woondies this time last year and it was the making of him.

Let hope everyone on our list delivers their best whether in the Senior team or the WAFL. They all deserve our support.

Cheers.

i hear what you are saying but i just can't bring myself to liking him on our team.

he will get his chances but, tick tock tick tock.......time will tell

211 is struggling with form and I don't think anyone disagrees. I think it would be a mistake to say he is running out of time though.

I would happily see him on the squad for another 4 years because you can just see that when he eventually comes on he'll be unstoppable in the ruck and dangerous enough drifting forward.

Oh yeah, JLo's importance was very pronounced on Sat. He is a legend no doubt, but I think his absence was miised more because we lacked a backup ruck.

Certainly wouldn't get rid of 211 off the list, he's worth a couple more years yet. Ripper's right, big men generally don't come good until much later in their career.

But by f**k, he'd want to learn how to catch a ball pretty bloody quickly.

I reckon Ripper is right. The club has been extremely patient with Longmuir, and its only recently that that has paid off. Personally I would have traded him away ahead of Brown a couple of years back, and yeah, I'd be kicking myself now for doing that.

I still hope that patience will be rewarded with Sandilands, but right at the moment the idea of having to rely on him as the number one ruckman in a game should anything happen to Longmuir (touch wood it won't) fills me with dread. I accept that learning the art of being a ruckman takes time, and real game time at that, but the problem I have with Sandilands is that while we give him that game time to develop that art, he doesn't seem to offer us anything else. It was easier to be patient with Longmuir because he was always a viable option at full-forward, and was athletic enough to make himself a free man in the centre of the ground while on the ball.

As you said Longmuir was always a viable option.
Players like Longmuir and Polak take time to develop, but from the begining their raw ability is always blatantly obvious and you realise how good they can be.
Sandilands in my opinion lacks that raw ability, sure he is tall and mobile for a big man, big deal.
Polak has is strength in the air and marking, marking ability that even now is amongst the top in the compeition, needs a bit more size, prescence and confidence to make an impact.
Longmuir always had his mobility, but he also had the marking a reading the play, he too lacked size, prescence and confidence.

Confidence can be taught, size can be attained but reading the play and owning the air is very difficult to learn.
The only thing really sandilands has going for him is height, worth hanging on to but at a minimal price.

Spot on!

I don't think time will help Sandi. Just don't think he's got it.

I would be very surprised if Sandi replaces JLo this week. Warren played well on the weekend and is due for a call up and would be a much better option than Sandi against a mobile ruck of Fraser and Cloke.

Might be wrong but I get the feeling that some of the senior players have had a whisper in CC's ear and voiced their lack of confidence in the big fella.

Unless I missed something no one has said trade, delist or bye bye 211.

Good.

He is young. IF he does reach 80% of his potential we will get great service out of him.

For those of us over 25 we know he is still a couple of years away from having a brain. :p

For those under 25 you'll understand one day.

Therefore even if he hasnt got a high degree of natural ability when his brain kicks in he will be able to think like a good player. That is all you need from a big man.

Have a look at the games played and average rating.

Considering that 211 has rarely played a full game by himself, (the closest to it was when he went head to head with Jamie Charman in 2003 when he won his rising star nomination) he stacks up reasonably well at this stage of his career.

P.S. I realise that he is down on form at the moment.

Hopefully Longmuir won't be burnt out by the middle of the season. If I were CC, I'd be allowing him to skip one training session every week or two to lighten his load a little.

This is why I reckon JLo should be rested this week, that was a damn big game for him last weekend, I was right behind goals in the last quarter and he was really struggling. he should have some extra time to recover as we don't wan't him burning out!

We're also playing collingwood, and even though we shouldn't underestimate them as we did last year, I think it's the perfect opportunity to give Sandi a run and give him a shot at proving that he's worth keeping! I agree that we need to give Sandilands some time to develop as if we trade him he'll probably be the best ruckman around in a year or two!

211 is the best ruckman in the wafl. IF he wasn't on the freo list, we would want him on our list. The problem is, like many good wafl players, he just isn't quite up to AFL standard. Lucky for us he still has alot of improvement left in him, we have no other choice but to persevere. Ruckman don't grow on trees, it takes time to develop them.
IMO we should have picked up another ruckman in last years draft

My $0.02 worth

I'd rate Jlo & Pavlich as the most important players with McPharlap as a close 2nd.

Your reference to the WAFL - I'll give you an example, Fewster was able to play a class above 99% of players in the WAFL. He could not take the next step at in the AFL at the Eagles or Dockers. There are many players like this.

I think we should keep him on the list for at least another 3 years. If he isn't performing his contract should be small so it isn't that big a deal.

Gotto remember that besides burton (who took ages to actually come good) he is a potential X factor down the track. One of the things which gives me great confidence in him coming good is his muscular size and willingness to dish out a few hits. That was something burton never did.

We should send a memo or a media statement relating to this new knocking players arms out the way. It seems the umps figure he is an exception to this rule.
