Arrgh I lost my iPod on holiday. Is it correct to assume I can download the contents of my iTunes Library straight onto a new iPod without problems.

I hate to sound dumb but I have had the experience the other way round whereby the Library ate the contents of my iPod - no risk of that happening the other way round

iTunes is the master copy, you can sync multiple iPods to it (ie including your replacement).

Extracting music from an iPod if your music library is nuked is a much more difficult proposition.

I've got nearly 50GB of music, so it is backed up on multiple USB drives and stored in multiple locations (ie home safe, parent's place, brother's place, etc).

Thanks Likka I am going to buy an external hard drive and back up onto that - I am sick of backing up to disks!
