You read that right, internet folks. Melon media is on a sabbatical, and in it’s place? Love’s language. Not to be confused with love languages, although you could argue this is an act of service to the SFA. I was recently made aware of a team that had a 69 point turnaround (from winning to losing!) and got curious about just how many times our beloved SIM either fills comrades and competitors with hope before dashing it, or allows teams to have their nose in front from start to finish - and are there any trends we can learn from this information?
Here we present the first edition - Who blows their load too early and will be the front-runners for the LBA (Load Blowing Ability) champions of S39?
Let’s take a look at all teams this season, 13 rounds in and see, who indeed likes to blow their load (or a solid first quarter performance) early!
If you think your team gets out to a red hot start then loses the next three quarters - maybe look away because you’ll find your names up in lights very soon!
Up first, the oddly low placed OOB. It’s strange how low the most talented and quality lost in all of Sweet is, but the sim is a fickle mistress and that’s a topic for another media thread. Tigerturbulance Robertio Pugsley Braklet sabso and co, how do you think we do?
OOB’s Q1
R1: Home v Rats +8
R2: Away v Demons +10
R3: Away v Warriors -27
R4: Away v Bombers -19
R5: Home v Roys +12
R6: Away v Wonders +12
R7: Home v Dragons -16
R8: Away v Royals -21
R9: Home v Hawks -7
R10: Away v Gumbies +18
R11: BYE
R12: Home v Bears -19

OOB’s differential Q2-4
R1: Home v Rats -37
R2: Away v Demons -2
R3: Away v Warriors +19
R4: Away v Bombers -6
R5: Home v Roys +0
R6: Away v Wonders +1
R7: Home v Dragons +6
R8: Away v Royals -28
R9: Home v Hawks -7
R10: Away v Gumbies +63
R11: BYE
R12: Home v Bears -40
R13: Away v Furies +15
Load Blowing Ability (LBA)
Avg Q1 (Home) -4.4pts
Avg Q1 (Away) -2.0pts
Avg Q1 (Overall) -3.0pts
Avg Q2-4 (Home) -15.6pts ?!
Avg Q2-4 (Away) +8.8pts
Avg Q2-4 (Overall) -1.3pts
Overall Avg Q1 v Q2-4 and total LBA Score = 1.70
It would seem the mighty OOB have struggled greatly at home this season, dropping 4 of 5 games to the Rats, Dragons, Hawks and Bears. Once out of games, the Spotswood faithful have had to witness the OOBs throw the magnets around with little success, losing by a margin of over 15pts in the next three quarters. Conversely, despite the slow starts, the Old Boys have found form away from home and have fought their way back into several games, giving themselves a positive score of 8.8pts. This home form is likely the reason they are at the wrong end of the SFA Ladder, and we will see how their LBA translates across the league in the coming days.
