the way I read it the club has given him a strike.... I suggest that this is his first and only get out of jail free card as it were.

Personally I agree with this despite the lovely rolleyes article from Robbo in the weekend HUN.

Entirely depends when they deem that the club as a whole had started for the season as to if this was deemed off season or pre-season. One might assume they are lax "it's a minor screw up in the off season thus you have 1 of two strikes before your fired used up" or in the aforementioned that considering training hadn't started they decided to give him a strike for being ******ed and to wake him up for the rest of the year.

I would think it would depend on contract dates. If the date of the "offense" was within Saints contract dates then we need to take control/responsibility but maybe he wasn't yet contracted to us? If we were not yet his employer it makes it very problematic for us to attempt to discipline him.

I would think he will get as many strikes as he needs for us to get a return on him - all footballers are not created equal.
