The 'soruces' are probably complete crap, or 'word of mouth' which usually involves a lot of chinese whispers.

Which changes the 'players are disappointed' to the 'players are unhappy' to the players are revolting, to the players would rather be delisted than play with him, and next thing we know they'll be going to the West Gate rather than putting on a Saints jumper due to Lovett being a Saint.

Oh I'm well aware of how the media operates, I just find it entirely hilarious that in one line it reads as fact;

"We can report that Andrew Lovett was drunk and allegedly r*ped a person..."

Then the next line reads as bullshit;

"That Lovett wore pants on his head and proclaimed that he was he would be changing his name to upsidedownman and fighting crime in his spare time. Sources close to the St Kilda football club thought this was rather epic but further sources disagreed and half the club are fractured with just how epic it is and tomato sauce is tasty..."

Then palmed off and created a "news" article (the term news is subjective in this case) that you just have to wonder just how the media went from reporting news to bullshitting stories to actually be interesting to people.
 
Hey, I'm not here to take cheap shots at Lovett or anything like that, but I just want to say that I hope he's proven innocent and all this shit can go away.

It's not fair that some people are blaming the Saints for this, it's also sickening that there's quite a few people who are reveling in the events of the past week. I'd hoped to see Lovett play at his best for St. Kilda and still believe he can, but the sad truth is these accusations take a long time to wash off and he'll cop it even if no evidence is found to back up these allegations.

If it's all true, well there's no need to get into that here or now, but I'm hoping for the best. The trolls from a particular club will keep coming, I'm glad they're being treated accordingly in this thread.

In a way its a pity he came to the Saints. I believe that the reason other problem players have been able to leave problems behind them has gone hand in hand with an interstate change. Ie : leaving a problem peer group behind them.
I consider this is a lot of the problem Lovett has.

Yeah Michael Gardiner and Ben Cousins are two classic examples. They were treated like rock stars in the Perth fishbowl but by moving to Melbourne they can keep a much lower profile and are away from some of those bad 'hanger on' types in Perth.

From what I've heard, Brett Peake may have been in the same boat so I'm hoping that a change of environment will turn his career around. Unfortunately for Lovett there is no such escape, whatever bad influences he had at Essendon will probably still be there at St Kilda. I know we have a strong leadership group at the club now but they can only do so much, if a player still has bad influences outside the club they are pushing shit up hill.

Charges loom for suspended Lovett

New St Kilda recruit Andrew Lovett is expected to be charged on summons over the alleged sexual assault of a woman earlier this month.

Detectives interviewed the 27-year-old for a second time today, and have made an application for him to be charged.

Feel sorry for Saints supporters but at the same time suspect the recruiters have failed in due diligence with regard to the Lovett deal.

Good players do not get shopped around for no reason. ;)

Yeah it seems the Saints underestimated the level of babysitting this idiot needs.
I'd wait for the circumstances to come out before I judge the other saint player though.
Are there many Saints players living in "Port Melbourne"?

What do you expect pick 16 in a weak draft to achieve over the next 2 years? A talented player in Armitage (top 10 pick) has barely been able to crack a game for 3 years.

By trading their first & third picks, using their fourth and the pick received for Xavier Clarke on delisted players, and passing on pick 25 for Ball, St Kilda is pretty much saying the cost is not as great as might normally be the case.

Fair enough, anyone with a pick under 10 is going to get an AFL standard player more times than not, but pick 16?

Although admittedly, I think we were all much more excited thinking about Lovett screaming down the wings...
