Hi beloved Carlton people,

I am wondering what your thoughts are on past Carlton player Luke Blackwell. I cannot really remember him too much at Carlton but he is currently tearing it up in the WAFL and may have been a victim of not getting a good run at the Blues due to your stacked midfield.

He is still only 23 and has averaged 31 touches the last 2 years. He finished second in the Sandover this year.

What was he like? Good disposal? Good Inside? Would you consider having another crack at him?

Cheers,
7z7

he was decent at the blues but didnt get a huge run with our midfield being decent at the time. when drafted he was very skinny, got a heap of the ball when he played but didnt seem to be that damaging with it, disposal was decent enough thou. i think he needed time to develop, maybe a few season in the wafl and he is ready to go. was a good runner and his dad was a proven blue great. Worth a crack id say

Always liked him and feel he would still be great for the right AFL side. Would still struggle at Calrton as we have an abundance of mid field options. Hopefully he will get picked up for 2011 with someone.

Will watch him this week at the Wafl granny in all fairness he will go to Freo or Eagles he has been playing alongside Brabazon and Swift and has been excellent all year.

good footballer but much like ross young as far as potential goes. he's already reached it and will always be a really good wafl player

ease up...

Always a bit on the light side but still thought he should have been given another year at least. He always seemed to on the emergency list for the blues.

He may well get picked up this year.

Must say earned some respect from me. Returned to WAFL and worked hard instead of spitting the dummy. Good on him and good luck

:( Nope, Mr Magoo is correct. Wayne was my favourites in the 80s and stiff to miss the '87 side with injury.

Wayne Blackwell a proven Blue great? My issue is, where does that put the likes of Bruce Doull?
