I havebeen asking that same question for near on 5 years now.
Its not jst the MCG, but pretty much EVERY stadium that seems to be outdoors these days. SCG, AAMI, SUBIACO, OLYMPIPC and even at the GABBA.
Have we become the AFL's perennial "basketball" team?

I remember a time when we could only win at the MCG a couple of years ago under Knights. Our problems this year is probably to do with the game plan (forward press) and our inability to do it as well on a bigger ground. More room to cover and we can't spread effectively enough. That's my excuse anyway.

After the 2000 GF Essendon were the best team in the AFL. Membership was equal or even better than the Great Collingwood.

Then some time a little later some smart arse peanut decides lets go to Docklands pick up some $$$$$$ and play on a concrete based surface in front of a maximum 50 thousand supporters.

Essendon fell in a heap, injuries and fatigue, attendances fell and years later the club is nowhere near as popular since leaving the MCG.

THOUSANDS of supporters have stopped going to the games since that stupid change, and nowhere does anyone ever condemn the move.

Only a complete idiot would have given up their home games at the MCG.

Richmond did it for one game, we did it for ever, it was the dumbest move in AFL history.

I would like to know why the game was even played at the MCG.

Out home game should have been at Etihad and our home game against Geelong should be at the MCG.

No excuse for playing so bad, but Melbourne's last two Friday night games should have been at Etihad.
