Thanks for that.

Much appreciated. I'm pretty naive about Macs

So I really don't need any additional protection?
i've had mine since july - also my first mac so i know how you feel - and i haven't installed any sort of protection - and have not had any sort of issues whatsoever.

it takes a few weeks to get used to the different interface and to start learning how to take advantage of keyboard shortcuts/gestures/expose - but once you do you'll be loving life.

Thanks for that.:thumbsu:

I'm certainly pretty impressed with it but am also struggling to get used to it.
I can't even figure out how to make my internet go onto full-screen:confused:
But everyone I had spoken to regarding apples strongly recommended them.
Only been a couple of days, so it'll come.

Can't you just drag the bottom right hand corner out. Then next time it will open at that size or shape that you left it at.

They are a vastly superior machine, and the mac haters out there are just jealous or couldn't afford the extra couple of hundred bucks to get one. :D

It did take a while to get used to, it helps if you have a knowledgeable mac friend who can keep supplying hints and tips.

Invest in a little program called SizeUp (about US$13); allows you to configure your windows into tiles if required and allows movement them between Spaces fields. If you haven't Spaces under control, give it a go. Great when studying.

In fact there are a stack of neat little programs you can download as freeware or for a small licence fee.

Worth having anti-virus. While the risk of having your Mac damaged by a virus is low, that doesn't mean some bastard won't come up with one. And your Mac can carry Windows viruses; so if you are transmitting information over a network to a PC, you can act as a "Typhoid Mary" in certain circumstances.

I use Norton for Mac on my 2 year old iMac (2.0GHz). Did slow it down a tad, but boosted the RAM to 4GB and now all is well. It's unobtrusive.

Again
Thanks all

I think I'll take the suggestion and use Norton as I have on my PC desk top and I think I can register it on 2 other terminalsfor no extra cost.

Also I love all the little downloads you can get with Macs
Not that I've tried many as I can't seem to wrestle the computor from my kids.
i highly doubt you'd be able to use your norton PC license on a mac..

i could be wrong though..

Correct. Symantec produce "Norton AntiVirus for Mac".
