Simone Lee Brennan, a former contestant from Nine's Married At First Sight, has penned a scathing blog post on her time on the show, summing up the experience in one word: "f---ed".

Apparently - and this will shock you all:

- editors cut, copied and pasted footage to make things appear a certain way!

- her "husband" wasn't "scientifically matched" like the
"psychologists" on the show said! He was some bloke they found in a cafe who had good abs, and thought "**** it, why not?". Turns out he just wanted a TV gig!

- she wasted all of her annual leave on a "honeymoon" with this bloke who, it turns out... she had nothing at all in common with!

Various other tricks the show uses are unveiled.

Is anybody else as shocked and, dare I say it, disillusioned as me??

I cannot believe this.

I remain completely bemused at why people go on these shows

there's almost no chance your true personality will be reflected - it will just be an amplification of your worst traits

I'm completely bemused at why anyone would even watch it.
Every now and then one of them will suck me in - MKR is a weakness of mine that I'm not proud of

Looks like there's a couple from Broome this year from the promos so I'll watch them probably even if the guy does look like an arsehat

I was into MKR for a time after my little sister got me into it while she was living with me.

I like cooking so that one doesn't seem as bad to me. Only made it halfway through the last season before losing interest though.

I'm shocked to be sitting here.

I know two guys that were on my kitchen rules. They actual applied for the greatest race, but were unsuccessful. So the producers asked if they would like to go on a cooking show as they needed a young male team, so they said yes.

Now i would occassionally watch the show asmy mrs watches it and would wonder why teams would decide to cook something they had never cooked before on a game show. Turns out the producers tell them to do this for ratings, shock horrow. The guys got told to cook something they had never cooked before and bombed out on the first ekimination.

No way! Next you'll be telling us the people on music talent shows are deliberately set up to fail by being made to perform songs they are totally unsuited to.
