Magic week - round 6?

I keep reading that come round 6ish people will be looking at cashing in Hill etc. and going for JB etc.

Why is it around round 6ish in particular? is that simply when the value of the round 1 cash cow will be at there highest/fallen star be at their lowest?

Yeah your right. It's all about trading when the difference between the guns (BJ etc) and the upgraded player (Hill) is at its smallest. With Roo and BJ's good round 1's, they will drop faster after this round than they did after round 3 because it will be out of the rolling average. So it takes a few rounds before players reach their max/min values. If , say Rioli, keeps up his form then it will keep increasing after round 6 but not by so much, so you wouldn't wait any longer if you can afford a gun.

It's partly because SC uses a 3 week moving average for price movements, so the end of r6 is the latest that your current form will have any impact on player prices. After that is more uncertain (although the last played round (r3) is the only one that will affect r6 moves).

As far as when a player's value is maximised, it depends on their average. For example, if Hill starts averaging 50ppg, his value will actually peak at end r5. If he averages 30-40--g more than that, he should still be rising after r6

The other point is that the guns who had a shocker last weekend (e.g. JBrown), are likely to be falling until the end of r6, as their shocking score from r3 will affect their price until then. After that... well then it depends on how they play from this week onwards.

Basically, you gotta pick your time to cash in your cash cows.

Go to early (rounds 4/5), and you're cutting into your earning potential. Wait too long, and you are cutting into your points scoring...

Rounds 5/6 are *very* important in that you normally get both your rookies peaking (or at least getting up there), and your guns hitting their low point.
