Does a big showing against SA tomorrow = a world cup call for the Magilla? same question applies to S Waugh and Blewett too(and if Junior does something other worldly with the bat do the marketing directors.. er i mean selectors try to talk him out of retirement? hmmmmmm)

Don't know why Steve Waugh's name has been mentioned.

Both Steve and the selectors have all but dismissed any chance of him going.

No sense sending a batsman like Steve. We need a bowler or an all-rounder.
To quote Steve, 'I haven't bowled too many leggies of late'.

As for the rest, i can't see McGill being given a chance, he isn't seen as a one day player. Greg Blewett would be a great chance now that Nathan Hauritz is hurt.

yeah, Haurie could've picked a better time to roll an ankle over, wonder why the name D Marsh never gets a mention either, even for an A-team run, especially seeing he pinched the all rounder season award this arvo as well as the 100.

Regardless of who we pick to replace Shane Warne, I doubt he'll play a huge part unless we suffer injuries to our bowlers. I would like to see Brad Williams or Nathan Bracken be given a chance, especially with Glenn McGrath not quite 100% fit.

I don't understand why Bracken has been mentioned so many times on this board... I just don't think he's proven his worth to the selectors yet. Although he offers some versatility in the form of a good left arm fast action, he is yet to prove that he can bowl economically when required to do so. Even on overall domestic form and for Australia A this season he is as good as A.Noffke, S.Clark and P.Rofe.

I think it will be either Hauritz or Williams going as a replacement, as they are full time strike bowlers, not bit-part players like Blewett.

7.3 overs 3/21 not economical enough iyo?
Those were Bracken's figures at the Adelaide Oval one dayer against England about a month ago.

hogg seems capable of doing the job for us.
the big question who do we replace warne with if we are granted a replacement or warne gets off.
mcgill-seems to have stepped on a few toes and is out of favour.
hauritz-front runner at this stage.good for future years.
white-warne,s understudy but maybe a year to early.
bracken-capable lefty would add something different.
williams-has the talent big question mark over his control.
blewitt-is handy with his bowling but not the answer.

if we go for a spinner then i say hauritz
if we go for a quick then i say bracken.

cheers!

think the rules allow a 'like for like swap' or something stupid like that.

If that rule exists, and is strictly enforced, then surely only Hauritz and White would be eligible as replacements.

With Hauritz hurt, Cam White may well get an opportunity well before his time.
