Surely in the Man Utd thread United posters can speak negatively about other clubs?

If its done on the Terrace or the clubs thread that is the basis of the attack then it deserves to be carded or at the very least pounced upon by supporters of the club being slammed however I am not sure that defending your club on another teams thread even needs doing.

Now I don't care to much for jumping on other clubs threads and reading the crap that is likely to be said but that is me and I have no issue with posters coming on here but don't get to emotionally attached to what you read.

This is the United thread after all and we do what we want.

You're certainly entitled to write what you like on here, although slagging off other clubs is more Terrace material IMO. And I certainly don't believe that I'm banned from making a comment in any thread on BF.

If you feel differently or if you think I've broken the CoC, rather than whinge about it press the report button and let the mods decide. But really, a page and a half of whinging about what was a pretty tame post compared to the one made about my club is a bit pathetic.

Until I'm told otherwise, if you snipe at my club in this thread and I think it warrants a reply I'll continue to do so. I realise this and the Liverpool thread don't react well to a bit of banter so I won't initiate it. That should be a fairly big hint if you want to get rid of me from your thread.

And i never said that he wouldn't consider City, of course he would, any player would as they are loaded with cash and will be winning trophies more often now. I was just saying that if it was "all about money" and nothing else, he would be at City, because you guys have the most money. He wanted more money and a chance to win some trophies and he chose us over you guys.

Think the fact that United only has one top quality forward (Rooney) and City has 3 (Dzeko, Tevez & Aguero) also played a big part. He's guaranteed a position in the starting lineup at United whereas he would gave to fight for his position at City.

A week-long exhibition will open on Monday aimed at underlining the significance of James Gibson in the Manchester United history books.

Gibson is one of the most crucial figures in Reds' history.

Had it not been for the businessman's financial input during the 1930s, United could easily have gone bust.

Gibson was also responsible for recruiting Matt Busby as manager in the aftermath of World War II, appointing the Scot whilst he was still in the army.

Yet, compared to Busby and other legendary United figures, little is known about Gibson and his great-nephew, Alan Embling, felt it was time Gibson's contribution should be fully acknowledged.

"It does feel a bit like he has been airbrushed out of history," said Embling.

"But without James Gibson, Manchester United might not even exist.

"When (secretary) Walter Crickmer went to see him in Hale Barns in 1931, the club was about to go bust. The banks had closed on them and without the £2,000 cheque he wrote to pay the players' wages, I am not sure how it could have survived."

A military uniform manufacturer initially before widening his range, Gibson ended up as chairman, ploughing £40,000 into United and helping to stabilise the club during the pre-war depression.

Then, as the Second World War came to an end and football got ready to resume its own battles, Gibson made an equally significant decision on United's behalf, one that set the template which Sir Alex Ferguson has continued so successfully.

"Matt Busby was completely untried, and whilst Liverpool were also interested, it was still a leap of faith by my uncle to appoint someone from that background," said Embling.

"He gave him more authority than any other manager had at the time.

"Yet it proved to be one of the most astute moves anyone at Manchester United has ever made."

Within three years, Busby had collected his first silverware, the start of an era that spawned the famous Babes and ended with that momentous 1968 European Cup win.

Unfortunately, Gibson had suffered a stroke before the 4-2 FA Cup final win over Blackpool in 1948 and was not well enough to attend Wembley.

Instead, Busby and his squad took the trophy to Gibson when they got back to the north-west, which is where Embling saw it too.

"My memory of that is quite vivid," he said.

"It was wrapped up in a cover next to my (great) uncle in his bedroom.

"When his wife unrolled it I could hardly believe I was actually seeing the FA Cup. It was a fabulous moment."

Gibson remained United chairman until his death in 1951, although his input was curtailed by his illness.

The story of James W Gibson will be told in an exhibition at Hale Library, Leigh Road, Hale, January 14-21

I's about a 5 minute drive away from Hale Library, might drop in next week with the lad.

Anyone catch Gary Neville's article on Suarez?
I thought it was suprisingly pro-Suarez.
I like Gary Neville because he is and always will be 100% United but this article suprised me because he said it wasn't cheating because handball and what not are covered in the rules of the game. The worst he called him in the article was "Nasty Little Player" which let's him off very easily. IMO when he has repeatedly broken the rules with deliberate handballs (some will say the one vs Mansfield wasn't deliberate ) and other acts of low morality such as kicking that Tottenham player in the stomach, he shouldn't get off so lightly
However I do agree with him that your pay packet shouldn't be necessarily connected to your moral compass and that he is a player you would want on your team because he gives his all every game (like Rooney). Although I would never want him at United for obvious reasons and Liverpool would never sell him to us which works out well

Haven't read it but that is a bit surprising. I could imagine if Neville was still playing today how badly he would get stuck into Suarez on the field, would probably break his leg with some of the stuff that dirty cheater does in the field.

Jonny Evans :
“I'd like to end my career with United.”

“When I was younger, clubs were asking me to go on trial from about the age of 10. I never went to any other club.”

“I knew Manchester United was the place where I wanted to play football. So to play here throughout my career would be something I would look to do, I'd love to do it.”

Fletch is out for the rest of the season. He had surgery to resolve his bowel condition.

He got 3 goals this season not bad for a defender

In 1956 Santiago Bernabeu, president of Real Madrid, begged Matt Busby to take over as manager, telling him: "Leave Manchester for Madrid and I will give you a paradise."

To which the legend of Old Trafford replied: "My heaven is in Manchester."

A few thoughts on last night
. When you're up with 1 min you should always win although we you look at the possesion, shots, etc etc they really did deserve at least a point
. Worrying that Evra got torn a new one by Lennon. I know Lennon always does that to him but just imagine what CR7 and Di Maria would do to him? I really like Buttner so I reckon start him next game and give him some game time
. De Gea......Well what can you say. As usual pulled off some miraculous saves that few world GK would save and then goes and fluffs the easy things
. RVP was quiet apartment from the goal although that's not really his fault as there was 0 supply for most of the game
. Rooney was poor when he came on. I posted before the match that he is always awful off the bench and this was no different. He needs time to get into the match
. Carrick and Cleverley were continually pressed and looked poor in the 2nd half especially. I reckon maybe Ando needed to come on as his power and energy is always welcome against the tired legs
. Kagawa was good and impressed me for the first time this season but he really needs to work on his shooting. 0 power and just doesn't even look a threat when shooting outside the box
. Valencia is soooo out of form. Doing what Young was doing at the start of the season which is getting the ball on the wing, looking at the defenders and then passing backwards. Very poor. FWIW Young hasn't improved much either and has had 1 good game all season (vs Citeh)
.Welbeck was close to our best. He brings strength and speed and not to mention heart. He plays for the love of the club and I don't ever want to see him pushed out while he is still happy here. But by god his finishing/final ball is awful. Maybe RVP can teach him a thing or 2
. Rio and Vidic were solid but I think we missed Evans' playing out from the back. However Evans isn't as good on the air so it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

The thing is if Tottenham had scored say 10min earlier, I reckon we would have scored a late winnerby bringing Hernandez on. But there was only 30 seconds left at the restart.
Oh well on to next week vs Southampton who are solid. Must win game as we are only 5 points up.
The most annoting this is that after doing well against us, Tottenham and Liverpool will probably roll over for Citeh

Fergie screwed up by asking Scholes to come back last season. It was a perfect opportunity for Pogba to show what he's got and Fergie didn't give him a chance.

Fergie is very hesitant these days to play youth.

He is trying to take back the PL title. You don't do that by playing youth. You need experience.
