Albeit from a very very unreliable source which I am only taking with a pinch of salt, I will use Marcus Drum as a case in point.

In the event that the rumour is true, would it be safe to assume that the club's thought process is more one of delisting as opposed to looking for a suitable trade option?

If a club genuinely believes that a player is a tradeable commodity but not part of that particular clubs future plans, one would have to think it is in the clubs best interest to provide as much exposure to that player in his last season in an attempt to increase his worth.

I could understand not playing him if the team was striving for finals, however given that there has been no shortage of opportunities given to Freo players this season, surely it would be remise of the club not to play Drum "if again" they genuinely believe they can trade him.

I must reiterate that I am definitely not taking anything Barra says as gospel, however would be interested to hear others thoughts, even in a broader sense.

Thats not a good start.

I dont think the club would look at it that way. Im certain that he will get a crack anyway and i am hoping that he can deliver. I cant see any club offering anything worthwile for him this year. Maybe a GC17 prospect, though unlikely too. Whats his contract status??

Hmm... If this year's trading period is like last year's, then I doubt there'll be many trades occurring. Which means that someone like Drum might not appeal to another club even if he showed promise in the last few rounds. Freo might look at this situation and think that it's a better option to delist poorly performing players quickly so that it makes room for new players via the draft.

Having said this though, there's a few people saying that this year's draft is not as deep as last years, so a few more trades may happen. In any case, I reckon guys like Drum will need to improve A LOT to fit into the current team.

correct, now with solly out we're definately tanking..

freo need as many draft picks as possible so dont be surprised if u see this fwd line in near future (after we win 1 more game):

Head Murphy Gilmore
Campbell Drum Browne

:D:D - pretty strong fwd line i say, we might get 1 4th round draft pick for all 6
