At the beginning of his show this morning, Mark Aiston launched into a tirade saying that he has had a gutful of people ringing up 5AA criticizing Neil Craig and questioning the integrity of the AFC's coaching selection process.

He also said that he was sick of Adelaide supporters questioning whether Neil Craig had already been secretly appointed by the AFC.

My reply - Mark Aiston, you made an absolute fool and a tool of yourself. You are missing the whole point!! You are one of those that caused this whole fiasco!!

You should be chastising youself for this situation!! And your fellow Craig sycophants in McDermott, Rowe and Rucci!!

The average Crows supporter has had a gutful of the baseless biased single-minded constant promotion on the airwaves and in print of Neil Craig as THE man for the job. Day after day, week after week.

As a result of this promotion from the "Frothing Four", which in Rucci fashion I will term the "unofficial coach selection committee",
the Victorian media are the ones that are constantly making the allegations that the Crows have already appointed Craig as the next coach, not the average Adelaide supporter.

What does happen of course, is that the average supporter hears or reads this, and fearing that this is the truth, correctly protests that this is not an appropriate process.

Even Terry Wallacre has implied that he feels that some clubs (read Adelaide) are only going through the motions.

The truth is that WE have had a gutful of the Craig promotion by the "unofficial coach selection committee", which then leads to all the other problems.

The challenge to Mark Aiston and his fellow Craig sycophants is this:

Will you please shut up and stop promoting Neil Craig at the expense of all other applicants.

If you did this, you'd find that the average Crows supporter would just sit back with faith in the AFC to choose the best possible candidate for the position.

100% Correct Macca23.

Mark Aiston - another reason why I dont listen to 5AA anymore.

Totally agree Macca that the blinded faith in Craig by most of the media has given us a very uneasy feeling that he is a shoe in for the senior gig for 2005.

However, Trigg's reponse last week & the comment today by Eade in the paper suggests that AFC is going through a proper process to appoint the senior coach.

Hopefully the best man prevails.

Kane, my whole point is that we are not the ones creating the uneasiness - it is sections of the SA media doing that and also creating supporter instability.

It was reassuring that Eade appears to believe that there is a genuine process in place. Sadly it also appears that Wallace doesn't.

As you say, let's hope that whoever the appointee is that he is genuinely the best man available in Australia.

It's a pity Rucci can't make this point fairly, without selectively quoting for his paper(s) that we are some sort of splinter-Craig-hate group. All most of us want is a balanced discussion about the pros & cons of the candidates & at ther end of the day, the appointment of the best possible available coach - period. Sadly it looks like the 5AA Craig-friendly mafia have already put off Wallace. I hope they are happy.

Exactly right.

Personally, I haven't really go a clear cut choice either way and I am willing to let AFC choose the right coach.

The whole reason supporters on this board kicked up a stink is because the media has been suggesting that Craig is already signed sealed and delivered. After reading that email from Triggy and Eade's comments in an interview on 3AW I am convinced that Crows are going through the process.

Now who ever gets the gig I will give them a chance. All this crap generated by media is an attempt to let the cat amongst the pigeons.

Now Rucci wants us to put our faces and names to our nicks and form a "Unofficial Match Committee" much like that mob did with Carlton. Rucci I ask you as to what is the point of this and what exactly is your main agenda?????? A jurno wants a story and the best stories are the ones where there is turmoil at the club. You thik that calling us names is going to make us respond to you. The way we go about us disapproving or approving of Craig as a coach is quite frankly none of your business. At this time the last thing the Adelaide Football Club needs is a turmoil caused by their supporters. The only reason Adelaide is considered at the top job on the market is because of the stability of the club. Do you want the club to have a fighting battle with their supporters so it scares off the best candidates out there. Ids that your agenda Michaelangelo??????

Couldn't agree more. Wouldn't it be nice if the radio and newsprint mediums thought along the same lines.

Oh, but hang on, that wouldn't rate or sell papers now would it?

I'm not against Neil Craig getting the job as long as he is the best credentialled person for the job and not the only one that is left because our due process has taken so long. I appreciate the fact that certain aspects af the Adelaide media aare supportive of Craig but what are they basing this on.
As Macca23 has posted elsewhere it would be great for one of our esteemed journalist to write an article on all the potential candidates stating their strengths and weakness.
At this stage all we are getting is this derived rubbish on what Craig is doing. It's getting to the stage where Craig could go for a dump and MIchaelangelo would praise him for the way he approached it, his preparation the fact it was multi-dimensional and even if the delivery was sloppy it would still be classed as efficient.

I really hope they are not basing there suppiort on the fact that he is a South Australian and this is what we need. What we need is the Best Person for the job.

are we really going to know the reasons that the AFC select the coach, will they release the manner in which the conducted the selection for the coach- I dont mind if Neil Graig gets the gig but i would like to know how they came to the conclusion of making the selection.

Agree with most of the above. The normally frustrating Graham Cornes seems to be the only broadcaster genuinely interested in ensuring the appointment of the best man available.

Most of Adelaide's other media puppies seem to want Craigy ("our local boy") as coach.

I'm sick to death of it.

Aiston has always been a very strange little cookie. I'd prefer to listen to KG or maybe even Blitherin Rowe rather than Aiston, and that's saying something.

Being an ex-coach, he would know more of the process, and implications of a decision, than anyone.

Perhaps AFC should have has Cornes on the interview panel, as we know he would have the club's best interests at heart?

Kane, how much more valuable that would have been. Although Cornesy was sacked by the AFC, he became the winner out of that whole process, because he never bagged the club, even though they replaced him with a dud, and still has only it's best interests at heart. He was shattered about the Crows not getting Wallace, and if any man would know what it takes to be the coach of the AFC, it's a man who has been exactly that.

But then he would have voiced his concerns about the inadequacies of Craig, and we couldn't have that happening, could we??
