Where do people think Jamar is heading?

I just can't see him being a bloke who is going to play a lot of footy for the Melbourne Footy Club. I think he's a tad overrated, especially by himself, which is the exact reason he missed being drafted way back a few years ago.

How does he fit into the current side with White and Paul Johnson ahead of him? Has he impressed you? Will he be a long term player at the club?

Met him once or twice and seemed to be very down to earth, don't tihnk he overrates himself and has been dominating in hte VFL on more than one occasion this year. Remember, he's still VERY young.

I am pretty sure we rated Jolly higher than Jamar, but Jolly was sick of waiting behind White and wanted a fresh start. Sydney offered us a first round pick which we gladly accepted.

He will get another year, unless a club really wants him and offers something above his value.

I don't rate him much at all, Paul Johnson is a better long term prospect as he's more mobile, and he can also play forward much better than Jamar can. Unless he pulls the old finger out of you know where, his future isn't bright.

He has loads of potential, and his rucking technique is excellent.
Having spoken to him a number of times, I know just how desperate he is to secure a spot in the senior team, and be given an opportunity in terms of ground time.
He has done everything he possibly can since coming back from injury, dominating in the ruck and taking some fantastic marks.
All he needs is for someone *cough* bloody Daniher *cough*, to give him a go.
PJ is not so much a ruckman, but rather a forward who can ruck. But until he learns to mark a football, he won't go far.

BINGO!

I don't think anyone rated Jamar higher but Jolly wanted out so he got out. He'll get his chance next season once Ball retires, good luck to him I always liked his effort.

I'd like to see Jamar vs Johnson settled in next year's pre-season, light a fire under both of them! :D

Personally I would like to see Jamar shoulder more of the ruck work with White and have Johnson playing down forward as a big forward to take pressure of Neitz. Can't see any reason why he couldn't be developed into a full forward. He is big, mobile with fair speed and can take strong grabs.

Jamar looks a good prospect for ruck. I am sure he would be a far better player if we just played him, accepted that tha there may be a few bad games as well s good. I think we give up on our young players far too quickly which is why we failed to develop any talented big men. We off loaded Troy Simmonds afewyears back and he proved valuable up forward.

stupid daniher, jamar has been doing awesomely in vfl. maybe he needs more time. but i dont think any other team in the afl will have ruckman the size of them, i have met both of them and they are two of the biggest blokes i have ever seen in a footy team anyway

Jamar and Johnson should be given a go in a wizard cup game with no White playing to see how they fair.

Agreed. In the last two years our backup ruckman has always been given little gametime as White then played better rucking the whole game and for some stupid reason ND doesn't like resting rucks up forward.
Next year White will need a backup. I think during the Wizard Cup rest White for the whole thing and let the two J's ruck, with Jamar doing most of the ruck and PJ at FF.
When PJ takes more one grab marks he would be a very good forward option. Extremely mobile, just needs to get better in the air.

iv known PJ for a good while now, and i know him quite well, he can take an excellant mark and i believe he would play his best footy at FF...
When playin for WC he was used more in ruck, but he made his name as a FF/Ruck playing for Dandenong Stingrays. Should get alot of game time next year as neitz is aging and no other KPF in the melbourne list. Like to see him play all 22 games and give him alot of time on the ground to see what he can do.
Shows alot of potential in the VFL and should get alot of game time next season.

Good Luck Johnno

Made this point a little way back. Jamar would make a great backup ruckman for white and Johnson could easily mould himself into a full forward. That just leaves us with defence and a couple of hard rubnning players.

Sounds promising, if Jamar can take the next step and eventually grab the batton off White in the next couple of years, and Johnson was to play up forward, we could have a good, young spine developing.

Ferguson - Rivers - Jamar - Miller - Johnson

Jamar and Johnson will be a very strong team, when one is in the ruck the other in the forward line.

Having a ruckman on the bench will be long gone.

Hear, hear. Agree with every word of that. I would like to see White, who is hamstrunbg by the small centre circle, played off a half forward flank or at full forward, with Jamar and Johnson used in tandem for the ruckwork. We just haven't been given first use of the ball by white and it is reflected in our centre clearance rate which is one of the worst in the AFL. We all saw what white coiuld do up forward and he is as hungry as in front of goal. Why not let him loose. It would also extend his career.
