Been delisted thought I might aswell throw it out there.

Anyone reckon he's worth getting in The PSD if he's still there. If so what do you think he could add to our team? Very Good in and under player & wet weather specialist.

Thoughts??

Wouldn’t have traded for him and not worth taking in the national draft but if he is still available at pick 5 of the pre season draft l would grab him.

What little l have seen of him he has a bit of quality about him and seemed to be a ball magnet. We generally don’t play a lot of footy in bad conditions at AAMI (footy park) but he could be a handy pick up, so l would go for him

Unless the Saints decide to delist Gehrig, I wouldn't bother with any delisted players in the PSD, because if they weren't good enough for another club, why should they be good enough for us.

McGoughs was delisted because his asking price was to high not because he was a crap player for them.

Totally Agree. A ball magnet, needs to work on his disposal though & maybe lose a little bit of puppy fat but definately worth a try in the PSD if still available.

I wouldnt consider Mc Gough. He is slow and not especially skillful - not what we need for onballers going forward.

Our more pressing needs are an experienced ruckman - I would rather gamble a PSD selection on an Ackland

Thats a bit of a silly statement..sometimes true sometimes not...its knowing which are good and which are rubbish is the science..

Why was D Spriggs delisted? Sometimes players dont get on with the coaching staff and other times players become surplus to requirements. If a trade cant or wont be arranged..either through greed or arrogance on the players/managers behalf then delisting may occur.

I do agree not a lot of gems make it to the PSD but if you can grab someone which you at least have some knowledge through seeing them play against other AFL players ,then you can make a fair assesment then, unlike kids and or rookies who usually play against each other.

The question is, would you expect anyone to pick up what the Crows get rid of? Should we expect Gallagher to be a gun playing for another team next year?
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, a player not enjoying his time at the club, or wanting more money, but they are few and far between.

whats wrong with our midfield?

- lack of pace
- poor disposal

therefore McGough is no good for us

Wasn't Spriggs delisted 'cos Geelong just had too many good young players and midfielders and had to make a decision so they just chose him?

That's what they said.

Spriggs wouldn't be a bad pick-up if he could recapture his pre-injury form.

As for McGough, I think he's worth a bit of a look, as we need in and under players. He can win a fair bit of the footy, including the hard one as well.

A possibility.

Ask Josh Mahoney!

And Spriggs is training with Carlton. I'd go for him before McGough so if he's gone by our pick then NO to McGough. We don't need him.

Not correct.

McGough had a year to run on his 3 year deal but he walked out because he wanted more opportunities.

Way too slow with questionable disposal. We need class players, ie not McGough

Why wouldn't we want to add McGough to our midfield? We b#tch and moan about not having a midfielder who is gritty, in and under and has eyes only for the ball don't we?

Furthermore, the same people who are dismissing the young and promising McGough are the same people who are still waiting for Bode to turn into the gun we all thought we were getting when we so carelessly traded away our first rounder to Port for him.

We wouldn't want a massive piece of this?! Of course not... we're stacked with talent... Shirley, Doughty, Skipworth...

He's 20. He's in and under. He's 20. He's hard at it... He gets the ball...

People, please.

If thats the case why have Collingwood delisted him when they are just as desperate as us for young midfielder??????

He is a good average player nothing more nothing less. We have FAR too many of those, the last thing we need is another one. Whether he is 18 or 30 is irrelevant. We want to get skillful classy footballers, not a battler like McGough.

Strongly agree,
WE SHOULD BE TARGETING THESE TYPES!!
We could just get them to ask for more $ than their club can accomadate under the cap then pick em off.

not every deal involves a gun some are for tradesmen.

Well said DT.

If there's no off-field problems with him, we'd be crazy not to have a very close look at him in the PSD. He could well be the best available to us in the PSD - and we aren't overly endowed with in and under players.

Bit worried that Collingwood didn't want to pay him, and chose to let him walk.
I am all for using our financial strength to pry away players from other clubs, but I would rather that be used on required players that their club couldn't pay, rather than players their club didn't want to pay.
