Finnally we found the Mark McGough we saw in 2002. I find people critisise Goughy's disposal which i find has improved. With Collingwood having some quality players out with injury, i'm worried about McGough keeping his spot in the side.

I predict that he will stay in this week and Cloke will replace Tristen Walker. A few mmm's about James Clement though. I would take out Rupert Betheras ( even though I love him ) and keep McGough in, (only if Mick will allow him to play some quality time in the middle).

I predict that McGough will stay in the side this week for no reason.. he is a tool and his chances of being a regular midfielder in the Side has taken turn to the worse with the arrival of Andrew Williams and Shane Woewodin, he is like BK stars in the VFL but not good enough for the AFL

Mmm, McGough. Eight clearances in a half is terrific. And who cares if your kicking ain't that flash when you can get the ball out by hand like he did to Pebbles to set up that goal. Y'all know what I'm talking about, that knee high handball. One of my highlights for the night.

Cloke and Clement in, Williams and Walker out.

I forgot Scotland and his 5 goal, BOG effort (watch MM do the same thing). Scotland in, Betheras out.

one mmm yes one.How many good games mcgough has played this season, add two more and you find yourself with three if my maths is correct.3 is the number of good games that Mark Mcgough has played in his career.Scotland was arguably our best player in the finals and lead up matches.Scotland's one good game this year(rd 12) was better than mcgough's game against the cats.Scotland is due for a call up to the seniors after a BOG and 5 goals for Willy.Mcgough should stay in the side for at least this week, but when he plays with true Mcgough style(5 possies,5 clangers,a mark maybe and 1 behind perhaps)he should be dropped.I give one game until this style re-surfaces.
I know i have a lack of respect and trust in Mcgough but he is yet to deserve it,but good game on the w/end goughy!

Hawthorn, Essendon, Melbourne - 2002 (all Brownlow votes)

Geelong - 2003

That's four Cowelly. And I'm sure he's had a a few more.

Lack of trust in his pace an kicking is understandable. Same with Cloke! But there's still room (maybe somewhat more limited nowadays) for excellent 'ye olde' style tough nuts, with identifiable qualities that set them apart.

McGough is one of my favourite players. And so too is Scotland, for whom I have maintained a vigil, via Hotties and here, for his inclusion in the senior line up since 2001. I personally think there's room for both, but then I ain't the coach and have to live with decisions made by the boss.

Scotland, against Melbourne came did his work in the 2nd half when the (key word) damage was done.

Mcgough, against Geelong came on when we were 23 poinsts down and turned the game for us.

Which game do you rate higher?

There is no doubt that Scoots is a good player and did have a very good second half last year but he was definately not one of our best players in the finals, he had a good game in the Prelim but that was about it.

FWIW, I hope Scoots comes in for Williams this week who has become inneffective in the past weeks.

McGough hasn't had much of a go this year. i think MM and the crew have tried to keep him working and made him earn his game time. He grabbed his chance on Saturday night and proved what a footballer he is and what a great centre clearance player he will be for the next 12 years. There is still very much a place in the AFL for footballers. McGough and Cloke are 2 blokes who are ordinary athletes but natural footballers. The will be shown up at times for a lack of pace and average skills but time and again they will get the ball when the ball has to be got. Guys like McGough don't come along very often. carlton made a mistake and had to pay big time to get Greg Williams back. We won't be so silly with McGough.

I am a big wrap for Goughy also. It was fantastic to see him turn it on against the Cats last Sat night.

The difference imo, was that Goughy was played in his right position on Saturday. In the middle doing all the inclose work, where he excels as he has terrific hands.

A few games earlier on he has been placed in defense and that is wrong! McGough is NOT a defender, much like Cole. You'd think MM would have learnt that lesson after last year against Freo when Hasleby towelled him up ;)

The kid is a ball magnet.
And it appears as if his disposal has improved a lot.

By the way who is this complete d.ick head, statman, who comes on here with the football knowledge of an brain damaged chair?

I have had my doubts about MCG, but if is able to reproduce Saturdays form on a regular basis I will happily admit the error of my ways.

Its a funny game. In half a game of football he has virtually played his way into the finals, whilst others who have played almost every week (like Williams) are under the pump. I guess its a sign of a good side.

In modern day football(like the match against Geelong) it was something special.

He cleared the ball and got possesions.

He won the game for us.

Thats pretty special

Something special?
17 possesions in a half of football is certainly special, all he did was get possesion for the team, he wasted his opputrunity what player in the collingwood midfield is not capable of 17 possessions in a game???

Statman,

It shows how much i was right about Mark McGough, "**** player"

No wonder everyone is bagging the **** out of you, i knew that would ruin your reputation.

Goughy is a legend. So much for stats don't matter, that comment doesn't mind me, 8 brownlow votes in 1 season of football.

He has had 5 good games of Football. A good effecientcy rate.

Rnd 4 v Hawthorn 2002 (AFL Debut)
Rnd 5 v Essendon 2002 ( Anzac Medalist)
Rnd 11 v Melbourne 2002
Rnd 19 v Hawthorn 2002
Rnd 18 v Geelong 2003 ( Turned the game around)

Ok

If he is such a legend, we will see , we will see how many good games he can string together? played good last week, will play good this week then you watch he'll drop off again...

You guys need to open your other eye, for **** sakes.......

Just because he plays for collingwood doesnt make him a star, maybee he lpayed one or two good games, the fact is that he is inconsitent you watch maybe hell string one or two togther but not much more.....

Brent Tuckey played for collingwood does that make him a Star?
olerenshaw ? he is a star I supose???

OPEN YOUR OTHER EYE

our top four position is on the line on the week end, we'll see what he does? shall we

Hell win the game again, ill look like an idiot, but then he will do nothing against Adelaide

Any one who is a fan of Ben Kinnear really shouldn't talk about medioracy. Also what right do you have to call Mark a tool. Have you ever meet him? I would hazard a guess and so no because if you did you would know he is one of the nicest down to earth guys your ever going to meet. I would rather have Mark in my side than Ben Kinnear.

I don't understand the deal with Wlliams. Maybe MM has something to prove because he was the only one that wanted him. I hope not but I'm at a loss. McGough on the other hand has, IMO, been held back after a slow start. I think MM is a big wrap for him. His defense game time was merely educational for him.

He is younger than most players on most lists and already has some stellar efforts to his credit. FFS he had 5 brownlow votes before he could even go for his license.
