Thought Mark McVeigh's efforts in the final term deserved a special mention. Not only for the amazing mark and goal, but also the second and third efforts, the chasing, the tackling and harassing. I thought he showed a lot of leadership.

he is so reliable. he does his job every week and he never gets beaten. he is underated by the football public

hopefully he is given more gametime in the midfield in the next couple of weeks.

he should be used in the midfield and keep slats in defence

yer. he could snag a goal a quarter if he played forward.

the only downside to that is that we need him to use his great skills through the midfield. we wouldn't want gim to be starved of the ball if we aren't winning the ball in the centre

The passage of play where he had the ball on the HFF, had no options inside, no options to handball back. He kept remarkably composed, evaded the tacklers, spun around and snapped a quick kick to Lloyd in the pocket to set up the goal.

That, for me, was just as good as the mark

He has been great in every game - I thought he would take over from Solly in the disipline area but he has really lifted his game to a new level, which is great to see.

Dead set, the AFL must have it out for us. There was talk in the Herald Sun today that McVeigh's hanger might not be in the running for mark of the week because it was a blatant free kick. It was called a mark, so how can they over-rule it. If they do over rule it then why couldn't they do the same for McPhees mark last week? Double standards if you ask me. I bet you If it were Collingwood players in question then both would have been nominated, What a joke.

If that wasn't paid a mark, I dead set would have given the game away. Even with the "technically" bullshit argument anyway.

If McVeigh had his hands in Thorton's back surely Lloyd should get a free for being harrassed by O'Hailpin anyway

Yeah, he certainly wasnt fazed with playing on Lloydy. As much as it bugged me seeing Lloyd harrassed like that all day, credit to the Irishman for keeping at him....didnt realise how much taller than Lloyd he is.

It was paid a mark on the day, it should stay a mark, absolute nonsense its even been questioned.
I really reckon he stepped up his game in 2006 and has continued on this season, has some silky skills and seem to be finding the ball a bit more due to a bit more time in the middle.

he should be given plenty of the time in the midfield as he is the best user of the ball in our side and he knows how to kick a goal
