Wow. Never seen anything like it. In a world of their own.
Set list was 9 songs long so I read (though you can't really tell where one song ends and one starts), so thats 9 songs in what was more than 2 and a half hours. No support band. The jamming looks improvised, but then they go into another section which is so tight it can't be. The band is so tight. The guitarrist has to be one of the best around, easily.
I couldnt work out if they were the best band Ive ever seen or the worst sometimes. They make great sounds, stuff ive never heard anything close to, but they do drag it on a long time and it was some of the most mentally draining stuff I've ever listened to, by the end your totally stuffed even if you've been standing still the whole time.
Basically no talking with the audience at all, no "Hello Brisbane!" and no "You guys are an awesome crowd! We love you!" or anything like that. Not 1 song was introduced by name.
Setlist was for anyone who might be interested...(picked up from another Volta site). Parts of other songs were in there too though, I definitely heard some of Inertiatic ESP in there.
1. Cygnus
2. L'Via L'Viaquez
3. Eriatarka
4. The Widow
5. Drunkship of Lanterns
6. Frances the Mute
7. Roulette Dares
8. Cassandra
So this morning I was in the city and got The Widow EP which has the FTM song on it, the title track of the album it wasn't even on.
