Could it be as simple as contract end dates? Mattner's was apparently up at the year's end. Does anyone know the other tenures?

Wouldn’t Hart be on 1 year extensions given we tried to get rid of him and only kept him on because Francou walked out on us? Why would we sign him up on anything but the bare minimum?

Because we're the Crows?

Wouldn't Burton have had a significant say on how long his contract was?

When I wrote that, it wasn't clear that Mattner's decision was his own, having been told the end-of-year situation by the club. Now, there is no reason to think that Hart won't have been put in the same situation, except that he hasn't decided to go now like Mattner. We shall have to wait! ;)

So we've had two assistants quit in the past few years with 0 plans for where to go next.

Covid or not, that's concerning.

They'd rather be unemployed than with the AFC.

This a little different, we were sacking him end of year and he chose to leave now with as much cash as he could get. Francou walked because he knew we were a rabble and didn’t want his name attached to it.

Has it ever been proven we wanted to ditch Hart but didn't due to Francou? Or was it just a rumor?

Hart's been coaching us for two years since that point. I wouldn't put it past the club to actually want him, as an champion ex-player from the AFC

I thought he was being sent down to development or SANFL coach to replace the bike riding bloke. Might have that wrong though.

I think you are right, my recollection is.

Hart was offered a Development / SANFL role. Hart then said he wanted to move back to Victoria and was in the running for a few Assistant Coaching roles. I am sure that was confirmed by Hart or the club.

He didn't get anything in Victoria and then accepted the lower role with us but was then put back in to cover Francou when he left.

I don't think it was ever framed in the media as a demotion for Hart but obviously it clearly was.

Yes. This has been proven. He was gone, and quickly recalled like he’d just been caught off a no ball.

Greenwood would play a good quarter here and there, then he'd be gassed and fade out of the game. He was never fit enough. I'd much rather CEY. He's not as versatile but he will contribute all game.

That versatility is much more valuable then Cam. After all, Cam can only play midfield with any level of competency which makes us (an already predictable side) much more predictable.

You can live with a good quarter here and there from a role player if they add a good point of difference, which Hugh did. After all, not everyone can be a four quarter player week in week out.

I don't expect players to dominate all 4 quarters but I do expect them to be able to run a game out. The club must agree because they targeted endurance in recent drafts.
