What do we make of marvel docklands stadium. I like it. Has become a bit santitised as of late but i like it. Would be great if they bring back the Locker Room and make it like a nightclub feel now a days its a plain bar and a TAB.

All in all nice place to watch the footy and get around too.

Easy to get to also.

I like the roof open though if weather is fine on day matches.

like going to see the renegades play there in the cricket big bash too.
 
Doesn't the Locker Room literally look like a TAB? Or did it used to have a different design?

Ah yes, the Richmond supporter.

The cold draught through the corridors is the reason they don't go.

I'm an MCC member, pound for pound the seats are much better to watch the football at Marvel.
 
Seats at marvel and docklands all have great viewing too mcg has a fair share of limited viewing at docklands its like you are close to the action ill bring back the locker room and improve its entry exits thats it. Maybe have a firmer playing surface too.

sorry i forgot that as a richmond supporter i cant have an opinion. never mind that i've been to countless afl games there as well as for other sports and events.

maybe we need to implement a 'non-richmond supporter' passport on here. If a vaccine passport can help to keep the unvaccinated loonies away from the public then maybe it can work here too.

Agree the tigers dont like moving away from the mcg they dont show up at the other grounds they only show up at the mcg they can not handle it else where
 
The only thing that the MCG has over Marvel is the atmosphere and let's be honest, that's a pretty big deal when it comes to sport.

But I truly believe Marvel is the best place to watch sport of all the ovals I've been too.
 
why in all posts richmond is always mentioned too always seam to crop up all the time can we please stick to the subject of the post which is marvel docklands stadium

Disagree, the MCG has a much better design for moving large groups in people in and out, no bottlenecks like you get at Marvel, significantly better food, much quicker to get to and from your seat. Marvel is good once you are in your seat, getting to it and back is a poor experience compared to the MCG.
 
Agree there the 747 back before covid marvel tended to have bottlenecks and tended to have longer ques too for food and drinks even for the bathroom sometimes. That lower level always seamed to have too many crowds locked in the concorse too and was hard to get around too. MCG are shorter ques.

Yep, it's a controversial opinion but I love Marvel as well. Nothing better than 15k packed in for North vs Bulldogs, with no lines for the beer, food or pisser.
 
Seats are good to sit in and watch the game. Sitting down before the game the place does look like a concrete bowl though, could've at least kept some of the seat sections coloured rather than make them all grey and have a few of them spell out MARVEL.

Entry is shit. The ground itself is small and shit. Hate small grounds.
 
I've always enjoyed it. Doesn't have the aura of the MCG but it's a good place to watch footy (and cricket too). The standing room on the ground level isn't too bad either, you can still see the game well.

As people have said, they just really stuffed up the entry points and overall location. No fun to get there, no good pubs around, and doesn't feel connected to the waterfront at all.

That yuck mint green paint on the roof needs a refresh too.

I actually agree with you. Don't mind attending games there at all. Doesn't have the same atmosphere as the G but if it's raining outside there's not a lot better than being in the EJ Whitten bar with mates having a few.

i always like a bar area at the footy like where you can get a nice seat and not crowded too and only short que for a drink and a nibble and you can have a seat and watch the footy. Always loved the corperate boxes and be waitered on while watching the footy in comfort too.
 
Does any one remember the great grounds of Waverley and SA's Footy Park. These 2 grounds were footy to the core.
