I fear we could be looking down the barrel of yet another 100 point margin this weekend against St Kilda.

Our biggest dilemma will be who to play on the St Kilda forward line.

Here's what I reckon our defence will look like against the Saints forward line.

GEHRIG: Start with Rutten, but I fear this will be the game when Benny's pace is really shown to be lacking. Fraser is definitely no slouch in the speed terms.

RIEWOLDT: McGregor

HAMILL: Ben Hart

GUERRA: Tyson Edwards

MILNE: Graham Johncock

DAL SANTO: Robert Shirley

I can see at least 2 of these St Kilda forwards running riot and kicking 15 between them.

Very valid point :)

Goodwin Vs Guerra
Shirley Vs Dal Santo
Stenglein Vs Harvey or Hayes.

Agree with that - not sure about the DalSanto match up with Shirls though - and it could be a vital one too.

It will be interesting to see how the Saints pull up afer the Geelong game. That could be in our favour. We get a longer break.

Good match-ups Stiffy.

This will be Rutten's biggest test, as Gherig burns much quicker FB's off for pace.

While I think they will be too strong overall, it'll be interesting to see how the Saints go against Geeelong without a roof over their heads.

I think Shirls is capable of doing a job on Dal Santo. After all he has been able to stop Judd a number of times in the past:p

A tough game and I think Saints will be too good for us. Especially if Welsh and Roo get suspended.

Roo wont get games Stiffy - relax - it's
I'm actually REALLY looking forward to seeing how Rutten goes on Gehrig. This kid is just getting better and better and this will be his best test yet.

Sheesh - every week he comes up against a great quality gun forward - wish we had one!! -with all due respects to Welshy!

1. I hope so because I have some hard earned on him winning the Charlie again.

2. We have been saying that every week and the kid has stepped up every time. Having said that I agree its his biggest test. Gehrig's strengths are Rutten's weaknesses.

this will be HUGE test for Rutten. Gehrig is tough man to oppose, he is quick of the mark but he is also capable of kicking alot of goals from behind and man on man.
i would be intesrested to know how many he has kicked with an open gaol front, he has been lucky on a few occasions.
Bassett will be a very important player to drop back on his man and fill the hole in fron of gehrig.

after all of this and then we have riewoldt to contend with, if the saints fire it doesnt matter what we don, they are unstoppable on there day...as long as the young kids show something i dont mind on the outcome.

I agree the Hound is a better matchup for Hamill than Benny. Stenglein on Hayes as his disposal is more damaging than Harvey. Perhaps Shirley on Ball, with Mattner on Black. Goody or Edwards on Dal Santo.

Lets try beat the spread.

Right now its anywhere between a 50-100 pt loss, we will get absolutely smashed, its going to be comical.

Anyone see Luke Ball today, he is incredible, I hope we try go after him, offer him alot of money...i'd trade our pick and any of our youngsters for him, he is unbelievable.

Outs: S Stevens & Gallagher.

Does anyone have an update on our injured players? Hopefully Hentschel & JT are OK to return. Begley must be getting close too, though probably best for him to return via the Blues.

Saints aren't travelling that well at the moment. Gather there will be wintery conditions in Tassie, so I doubt the margin will be massive.

JT is another couple of weeks.

I think Hentschel will be fit to resume and Bode will be tested. Apparently Bodey has bone bruising in his ankle which is giving him a bit of grief.

Would be happy with Trent & Bodey as the ins.

Anyone know how Aiden played today in the Bays upset win over the (then) league-leaders? :D

Reilly on Milne
did a good job against Aaron Davey
leaving Hart to Concentrate more on filling in the Holes and giving run out of defence.

Considering we have lots of options for St. Kilda's forwards, how about Reilly on Dal Santo?

I'd love to see it.

Outs: Gallagher, S Stevens, Bock(unlucky i like the way he plays bu could benefit from a run in the SANFL0

In: Parker, Smith, Begley/Bode/Torney(depending on fitness)

we have upgraded these 2 and what better team to test them against than a team with 3 good tall forwards in Reiwoldt, Gehrig and Hamill. We might as well see what they are made of... we have done so with Rutten and it has proved a success but i would be a bit unsure about changing our back 6 after their sensational performance last friday night.

i think Stinger will play on Milne as he has done a great job so many times before with Shirley running with Hayes, i dont think we need to run someone with Dal Santo, rather put him head to head with Roo or Mcleod. In other news apparently the reason Roo spent most of Friday night in the forward lines is because he has two broken ribs and is playing in serious pain!

Stinger got cutup by Milne last time they played on each other, so can't see that happening.

Unlikely that both Smith & Parker will come in for team balance (1 though is a possibility).

Agree with ur ins and outs roodog but swap Smith for Hentschel. Bloody well time to f'ing PLAY PARKER  godamn what more does he have to do. Bock must be sent back to the SANFL he needs a full game with the eagles.....looks like they need him hehe....

I reckon we cold give them a run, it is a day game after all we play better in the day. Cant see us winning, prolly lose by about 30-40 but the experience will be good again.

Agree with all the matchups, tho playing Bassett lose would be an option I'd say.
