After a ridiculous and long fight with my credit card company this morning (peoples maiden names cannot change) I've decided to tell them to cancel my Mastercard because I refuse to do business with them anymore.

Now my query is that I want to get a new credit card with a different company but I'm not sure if I should stick with a Mastercard.

My fiance and I have a VISA as part of a line of credit account we have and as we like to travel a lot (and will travel overseas more often in the future) I'm not sure if it's useful to have both a Mastercard and a VISA so we can use them both overseas or if the coverage of VISA is good enough around the world that I can get a VISA credit card.

Any thoughts?

Courts, Visa is accepted at marginally more places than Mastercard, if that helps. That said, it's probably not financially feasible for me to have 2 Visas and 1 Mastercard :o

I've been travelling throughout Europe for a while now and every place that has VISA has Mastercard. There is no difference there. The difference lies within the company/institution issuing the card and the fees and rates that they charge.

Shop around different companies, not types of card.

If you're paranoid you might want to get your credit rating checked out in case you think the Mastercard people may have put a cross against your name.
