As a nutral supporter watching Saturday night , i was bemused of Carltons match ups in Essendons forwardline.
Walker on Gumby- Severe hieght disadvantage.
Jamo on Williams - Lacked pace and agility.
Thornton on Ryder - Lacked height and agility.

Thornton i could maybe justify cos he reads the play well but Williams was way to nimble for Jamo and you argue Williams 4 goals was the difference in the game conciderind he hadnt taken a mark inside 50 in the previous two games, and if Gumby ever had a chance to stamp is authority on a game is was against some one half his side plus i believe, played in the right position, Walker is a play maker that can penerate deep inside 50 and a capable goal kicker.

Obviously Ratten has a backline coach but the buck still stops with Ratten and his match ups were very questionable, agree or disagree?

Yep I agree, Walker on Gumby was a real WTF situation.

Bower will be back this week, so expect the matchups to look a bit better from here on in.

Yeah that was shocking coaching, We should have brought up White for that game, losing Bower stuffed up our defencive structure, not having Austin avaliable does not help either.

Jamo v Williams worked really well for us. Williams started killing it when Armfield was put on him.

If Bower was in we should have had:

Bower - Ryder
Jamo - Williams
Thornton - Gumbleton
Walker - 3rd man up
