With four teams remaining in the race for the Grand Final/Premiership, would there be a mathematical formula, or combination of bets, which could see all teams being bet on, whereby, no matter what the result, you would still make a profit (or at least, break even)?

yea, the pig flying over the roof at the moment has this magical formula in its snout!

Not really but you can guarentee a small profit if you are brave enough to pot one of the favourites this week.

Just say you think port will beat Collingwood.
For a $100 outlay,you can be sure of a minimum $127 collect.

At current odds:
Brisbane- $46 @ $2.85= $131

Port- $34 @ $3.75=$127

Sydney-$20 @ $6.75= $128.

Unfortunately theres no way to back all 4 & make a profit at this stage of the season.

Seth.

Of course not. Most bookmakers understand probability theories, and would make it impossible for them to have a guaranteed LOSS.

The best you can ever do in gambling is get close to evens. That's why so many high rollers play Baccarat. I have no idea how to play it, but apparently it is the closest to evens you can get, if you know how to play properly.

I read somewhere that Blackjack is in the low 40%, even betting on odds or evens in Roulette is at best 18/37 or 18/38 (if American rules).

If you go to www.betbrain.com they will show you things called 'SureBets' where the odds add up to less than 100% (and therefore if you bet the right amounts you can make a certain profit). Discrepancies this large between different online bookmakers are reasonably rare and you are taking a chance time-wise if you bet in two different places at once. That's why I don't do it :D

If there are 4 possible outcomes.... and:

Option A is paying $a
Option B is paying $b
Option C is paying $c
Option D is paying $d

if 1/a + 1/b + 1/c + 1/d < 1, then you can be guaranteed of making a profit if you weight your bets properly. But you find me odds where that is ever the case.
