Seriously, how does any of this crap help people in their day to day lives? Ive always wanted someone to explain it to me.

So what, don't you find it interesting? Maths is unbelievable, I just wish I had the ability to understand it fully!

This sort of stuff is very useful. Why, only just last night I went up to a drinking fountain & used my Yr 12 geometry knowledge to work out the curve of the parabola that the water formed so I knew where to position my mouth.

Had I not had this knowledge I could very well have ended up with water in my eye. And my doctor said I'm not supposed to get water in my eye anymore.

I don't know what Bezier curves are for, but I do know that lots of mathematics is useful.

For example, suppose you wanted to know how much you needed to save up per year if you wanted to have enough money for a deposit for your home and your savings account gave, say, 8 per cent per annum. You would need algebra to figure this out.

No you just need the right formula. From memory it is something like Fv=Pv(1+i)^n ? Maybe not that exact one, but something along those lines.

Only Maths I need is this one: 6g+b=P
...where g = goals, b = behinds, P=points total :D

Of course knowing about % always helps when shopping at the sales. :D

And of course the quadratic equations always helps when drinking out of the fountain ;)
