What are peoples thoughts on Selecting Matthew Sully in the 2014 Draft? Just get the feeling he isn't going to bide his time in our reserves for much longer.

His name was thrown around at the end of last year, when he was named in the VFL team of the year, and maybe the year before- but nothing eventuated. Would've thought it would happen- if it was going to- after last year.

Haven't heard his name mentioned at all as a recruit- apart from your post here. Seems as if nobody rates him these days- which is a bit unfortunate.

Don't panic- there might be someone out there willing to rookie him. I'm pretty sure he's only 21.

EDIT- October birthday. He's just turned 22.

I have been a fan of Sully's work over the last few years. That said, if Hammer can't get a go and gets but there is no way Sully will get picked up.
I had Hammer in front of Sully.

But have you watched him play this year?

Club has had access to him for a few years now, and you would think has a pretty good idea of his potential by now. May not be up to it.

Too slow off the mark, get burned by any reasonably quick player on the lead. Saw him get exposed in several games in this regard. Is solid one and one but couldn't get away with just that at AFL level IMO.

Agree with a number of preceding posts.

The guy has been sitting right under our nose for a few years and we haven't taken him (nor has anyone else).

Personally I feel that tells us all what we need to know.

Good at VFL level but it appears all AFL clubs feel he is lacking "something".
