Where is Matty Allan at, will he make it back, or will he end up on the scrap heap. Hope he comes good, he is a good ruckman on his day. Any update would be appreciated.

The news is .... that there is no news. The club seems to be quite hush hush on a return date for the big fella. The longer it takes, the more I think he won't make it back.
 
Matty participated in full training on Monday, he is not far away, however seems to be hit by niggling little injuries. Personally not confident he will last the season.
 
With Barnaby French having a good pre-season, he looks more than capable of holding down 1st ruck. We could then rotate McKernan and Merrington (if he gets a game) through in short bursts.

I believe they'll bring Allan back through the reserves for 3-5 weeks and see how he progrresses. Remember the guy hasn't played for 2.5 years, so we need to be patient.

How many weeks suspension did Matty get? 4 wasn't it? Was it for games or just a certain period of deregistration? Really got off lightly serving the sentence in the preseason while recovering from an injury. Would love to see Two Towers out there again. Hopefully, Matt and Barnaby will gel together unlike Matty and Ports who could not fit in the same side. With Corey up forward, geez we are tall .... not to mention slow.

Yeah, maybe I am being a bit tough on the guy but I really haven't been a big fan of his from the start. When you add to that the injury saga, the payroll fiasco and the fact he is managed by Dave Allison, then you can see why I would prefer he wasn't at the club.
 
That's interesting news BM, it opens up some food for thought too.

Are they going to play him ahead of French or will he be playing second fiddle to French ??

If they prefer to play him ahead of French, doesn't that make the recruiting of French seem like a waste of effort & time ??

Also, if they go for the French-Allan tandem act, then doesn't that make a mockery of them offloading Mark Porter the other year ??

I'm interested to get some other peoples ideas on this one.
