I think under Peggy and the current board our off field achievements have been outstanding over the last 6-7 years. Finacially stable and making a profit, close to 75k members, Punt Rd redeveloped and our own VFL team. If Peggy and the board are not asking Benny serious questions about the football depatment there is something seriously wrong.
It's time for Benny to make some hard decisions.

To be fair Matty Knights gameplan would suit current football perfectly. The only way to beat a high press is to run and spread and ATTACK. Replace Hardwick asap.

Hard to attack when you don't get the pill.... time after time our much vaunted midfield gets smashed.... it's where our best players are they get done in big games.... Martin, Cotch, Grigg, Miles, Lids and Sheds looked ok on the stats sheet but watch every centre clearance and the quality of our clearances compared to North's.... Clarkson couldn't coach this lot when they switch off... By the end they were shot due to lack of rotations but when the game was there to be won, we were smashed inside...again. A new coach may invigorate them... for a little bit and then it will be the same issue...rinse and repeat.

The best teams of the last decade are Geelong, St.Kilda, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Sydney and Fremantle. We have not brought in a single experienced leader from any of these teams. How Dan Richardson could not get Steve Johnson to the club when he used to be his agent is an indictment. How has Hardwick not landed a player from Hawthorn after his time there. No leadership, or toughness on or off the field.


Matty Knights as head coach, Adam Goodes assistant coach, Barlow from Fremantle, would be a good start. Geelong, Bloods, Lyon all have a culture of non-negotiables, which Hardwick does not have. Way too many games where his Richmond side does not turn up. The result is no A grade player wants to come to our club.


What would make Matty Knights a better option than Hardwick.

1) The players are over-coached. Matty Knights keeps it simple.

2) Marketing - Knights homecoming would be good for membership

3) What was his relationship with Hurley like when he was at Essendon?

4) Will he get any Geelong players to follow him. Murdoch should be a target.

Unless you ask the question you will never know the answer, I have met a lot of sales people who do everything but ask for the order, same analogy
